It just makes more sense to have a female lead, yes?
In the upcoming Alien: Isolation , players will assume the role of Amanda Ripley, the daughter of the classic "Alien" protagonist, Ellen Ripley. Developer Creative Assembly says they never once considered a male main character.
Lead Designer Gary Napper tells GamesTM that from the very beginning, "we made our test bed, and our test bed had a female protagonist in it." as for why, Napper says it "just felt right for the franchise" and "right for the setting." Again, makes total sense. He added:
"We’ve had people ask stuff like ‘do you feel more vulnerable being a woman in the game?’ …well, anyone in the situation you’re in aboard the Sevastopol is going to be vulnerable. I don’t think it matters what gender you are in the game, really, but Ripley suits our game."
If we don't get Ellen Ripley, we should at least get the next-best thing. And if you intend to be at least somewhat authentic and faithful to the legendary film franchise, you need a female protagonist. Alien: Isolation is scheduled to arrive on October 7 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, and I think everyone is hoping that Creative Assembly gets this one right.

Yeah, a little different in first person though.
can't wait to sic the alien on folks trying to ambush my sexy a$$
I've skiped all Alien-like games since I played AvP looooong time ago. None would satisfy me enough and I'm taliking about THE atmosphere. As you said it Ben – here's hope they will make this one right.
In their opinion.
I have my copy pre-ordered already, but I'm not cracking that bad boy open till I see a review or two. The Alien franchise just hasn't been treated very well in video game settings for the most part. I do have hope for this one though because the previews give me that feeling of fear I had the first time I ever saw the movie as a kid. I hope they get this one right!
Sigh. Who cares?!?! Just make a damn good game. Jeez Luweeze!
I agree with the sentiment. I mean, I still think it's a bit dodgy that they're shoehorning Ripley's daughter into the chronology, but Alien without a female lead would feel wrong. Though, with Isolation being a first person game, I'm not sure if it will matter quite so much as it otherwise would.
I'm with ethird, who the hell really cares if it was the son or daughter? Just make the game above average at least.
Doesn't matter, does it? I mean, with Silent Hill coming, that's just going to turn us all into little girls, anyways.
