You know what we need more of in this industry? Color.
So many games these days are so ridiculously dark. So many grays, greens and a whole lot of black and brown.
Look at the games thus far this generation; games like Titanfall , inFamous: Second Son , Killzone: Shadow Fall , Dead Rising 3 , etc. All very dark and forbidding (with the exception of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag , which was wonderfully bright, comparatively speaking).
And what about platformers? Whatever happened to those? Well, LOOT Entertainment has a tonic to cure all these ills: The Last Tinker: City of Color , which was revealed over at the PlayStation Blog . The story involves an evil called "The Bleakness" and you have to combat it. Game mechanics include puzzles, fighting (with color as your weapon), and even some parkour elements.
Check out the trailer; I'm lovin' the look and feel. It'll launch on the PlayStation 4 on August 19.

Gorgeous.
A good reminder that we need all kinds of games, all styles. Variety is king.
I dont need that reminder. The Playstation fans do. Why? Because I have Wii U that has plenty fo colorful games.
Pretty sure the Wii U's problem is that it doesn't have plenty of any type of game 😛
Bio: I got more titles for my Wii U than I have for my PS4. my next pre-ordered game releases on Wii U. I love both machines! The console hate Wii U gets is just immature.
Bastion, Dust, Child of Light, Borderlands 2, Torchlight II, Diablo III, Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends, Bioshock Infinite, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Skyward Sword, Kingdoms of Amalur, etc. etc. etc.
Plenty of games these days are colorful.
Borderlands 2 was not colorful; it was a bunch of washed-out colors, and Diablo III is hardly colorful. Nintendo games are – and have always been – different.
The trend right now in the biggest blockbuster games is dark. I would've thought that was painfully obvious.
Borderlands 2 has tons of colorful environments, as does Diablo III. Blizzard fans raged over how the game was "too colorful" and ditched the "more realistic" look of previous games.
Either way, I was just listing games off the top of my head while watching Sopranos. I wasn't going for an exhaustive list. Gritty, realistic looking games with muted colors aren't a trend at all, they've been around and plentiful since the PS2/Xbox generation, and colorful titles never went anywhere.
Oh well, this game looks cool.
Looks fun and beautiful!
LBP + R&C + a hint of Jak = Tinker!
Impression I'm getting… been a while since I've played an in depth platformer designed for FUN!
Too many games have such a serious undertone, that they feel almost like a chore or work to play. We need more light hearted romps through an imaginative world with goofy characters and witty dialog! Please! Revive the kid in me!!
This looks really fun. I miss good old fashioned 3d platformers. This reminds me a lot of the original Jak and Daxter in the art style and the brief bits of gameplay I saw.
Weird I have never heard of this game until now :
well that does look delight full and intreging it definatly deserves a secound look for the future.
happy gaming
Sweet! Something that I can do in between games.
Yes; modern games are dark. Primarily because they're trying to capture realism.
I say screw that. While it's nice to see, it's just overwhelming the market. And no; I don't think Nintendo is immune to it. It's 3rd party developers who control most of the momentum. Exclusives don't outnumber 3rd party games.

I KNEW there was a reason why Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is my favorite of the lot! All that brilliantly vivid equatorial sunshine!
