Resident Evil Remake Confirmed For 2015

Well, at least this is a Resident Evil title we know the die-hard fans will like.

That's because the new horror project isn't a sequel. It's not a prequel, either. It's a remake:

As previously indicated by rumors and now officially confirmed on Capcom's blog , Resident Evil Remake is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in early 2015.

The game is based on the 2002 GameCube "REmake" of the 1996 original title that started it all. This production will unsurprisingly feature "additional enhancements," including upgraded models and backgrounds and a new scrolling camera that will help integrate the original 4:3 presentation into the 16:9 view. As for those classic tank controls, they will remain an option, but Capcom will toss in a new "modern option," which will allow for normal 3D movement.

Toss in 5.1 surround sound support and this will clearly be the "definitive" version of the first horror classic in the series.

I'd rather it be resident evil 4 than 1 remade but we will see how this goes I guess.

Already got a RE4 HD version put out for the PS3. As far as HD remakes go, it's not very good.

The difference is that this one could ONLY be played on gamecube so a ton of people never got to play that amazing game .

They also hired the dude who started working on the Resident Evil series whose first game was this and RE zero. He went on to help make some others but obviously this is the highlight of his career.

Capcom is trying. This is actually a better way for them to fix old wounds. Instead of risking making an entirely new remake, bringing back the perfect remake is just brilliant. This ensures no one will cry about it because its 100% classic Resident Evil.

Smart move Capcom, very smart. Next up is for sure a remake of Resident Evil 2.

All I can think of right now is the RPD crawling with crimson heads. I've always wanted an RE2 remake done like the GC remake. Hopefully if enough people grab this it will tell Capcom that, yes, people are still interested in this type of Resident Evil game. I'd be happy with either a ground up remake of RE2 or just a new RE game that plays like the classics.

Well, even if Gamecubes are cheap these days, it's getting harder and harder to find ones that are reliable. They're relatively small and in the shape of a box. So they can't possibly take that much space.

So if your console still works flawlessly, I suggest you keep it. Especially if you are going to hang on to the RETAIL versions of Resident Evil 1 and Zero.

The new version that we're getting on PS3/PS4 is digital only.

A remake of a remake? For me? Aw, honey, you shouldn't have…..

I think it's a remaster of a remake because the GC edition was the remake. This looks like recycled assets with subtle touch up work from that remake, which I don't think really qualifies as anything more than just a remaster.

I guess Capcom is afraid to make a new RE, since so many fans scream and complain about RE not being what it used to be.

So, here is a remastered version of what RE used to be…something tells me this won't go well either.

no it wont.. im already disappointed.. I want a NEW RE game that plays like the old ones.. not an OLD RE game remade/remastered… yawn.. I mean sure I never even played the GC remake but other than crimson heads and having to burn bodies… plot/storywise its not adding anything new to the table, so Im not mmissing anything in that regard by never playing this

@duomaxwell007 – I played the original RE1 on a PSX. And even if I had already beaten that game several times, when I got to play the REmake in 2002, it was like a totally new experience.

Because the developers had changed around the areas (they added new areas too). Enemy placement was different.

For instance, remember that classic scene where a dog comes crashing through a window? Well, if you play the REmake, you enter that area where the dog is suppose to appear and… nothing happens. So you put your guard down, feeling a bit disappointed. But the developers are only toying with your expectations. Because that dog will come crashing through a window. You just don't know when.

So once you realize that they change things around, you begin playing the game as if it was your first time playing it. Because you never know what else they changed.

And BTW, they added new sub-plots to the game. But I don't wanna spoil it further for those who never played the game.

duomaxwell007 .You got no idea what you re talking about if you think the only changes is crimson head and being able to burn bodies .

There are new place to explore , new scene , new enemies like you mentioned ( not just crimson ) a way to counter being grabbed (knife , grenade , teaser … ).Not to mention the huge graphics difference and now , new control options if you don t like the old one .

Trust me , you want to play that game if you liked the first re game on ps1 .Even more reason now with a better version of that remake .

Appologize for my excitement but HELL YES! I was waiting for the day when CAPCOM will finally understand that what makes RE so good is the clasic RE. I guess it's a test – they are testing how much copies will this sell and if it's worth to go back to the roots of izometric view with the new RE.
I just hope they will also remake RE Zero and RE 2, also my favorites in all the series.
I remember i bought GC especially for these two titles but sold it long time ago. It will be a blast to play this again in better graphics. THIS is the true horror game.
Well done CAPCOM!

Agreed , hoped for this to happen for a long long time . If they add a new boss or place to explore , it will blow my mind 🙂 Especially if they make wesker part of the story ( a la Ada in 4 )playable .

I miss the days where there was 2 character to pick from the start and they had different stuff happening to them .

And yes , hopefully , re 0 will have the same treatment .I wish for 2 too but i doubt they will make it . Way more work to be done to remake that one then the other 2 ( since to are just remastered ).
