Resident Evil “Rebirth” Set For 2015?

In the eyes of many veteran fans, Resident Evil is in dire need of a reboot or a remake.

Well, how about a "rebirth?"

According to well-known industry insider Ahsan Rasheed , Capcom will deliver "Resident Evil Rebirth" to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2015.

You will notice that he clarifies it as a "remake" and that GameCube owners should be satisfied with the announcement. Back in 2002, we got a Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil Zero for Nintendo's console, so perhaps this mystery title refers to one of those productions. As for the plausibility of the rumor, Rasheed has been correct before…but he has also been astonishingly wrong, too.

The question is, do you even want a remake of any RE game? Or would you rather they just produce Resident Evil 7 ?

I don't know what I want from this franchise anymore. A reboot would be cool, but that would probably mean no Leon or Jill. What I do know is they don't have too many opportunities left to please the fans.

This "Resident Evil Rebirth" game sounds like it's just a port of the classic 2002 Gamecube exclusive. Which was also known as "REbirth" by the fans.

So it's not a reboot of the series. But merely a port.

The GameCube Remake is "imo" the best remake ever for a video game. It was still true to the original and gave you a great graphical overhaul.
I have a feeling it will have the RE4 control scheme which I'm fine with. To visit those levels again in full HD/3D would be great.

Without a doubt one of my favorite games of all time. Every time I go back to that I'm blown away by how good the game looks even by today's standards.

Being that I'm probably the biggest Resident Evil fan in this community of ours, I would have to say… Good luck. The reason for that is, unless Capcom realizes why people are angry with the game, nothing they do will fix it.

Resident Evil 5 had the replay value, and a ton of extras. Resident Evil has always had replay value and a ton of extras. RE5 was missing the "survival horror" aspect of the game which if anyone is curious as to how Mikami defines it, check out The Evil Within interview with him.

Anyway, with RE6, they had in a large basis in which they started to fix the storyline. Trying to make it have impactful characters and things started to feel more dynamic. Was the story good? Eh. Leon's was almost step by step classic Resident Evil. Chris's heavily action packed campaign made a ton of sense being that Chris belongs in an atmosphere like that. Jake and Sherry was a forced love story thing for the lady audience.

As I said, RE6 had some good but it was missing many of the key elements that make it a Resident Evil game. NO REPLAYABIITY is a very wrong step. Sure, the masses are who most developers cater to now, and those masses play a game and say "Yee I'm coo…" while others enjoy getting their moneys worth. RE6, for all 4 campaigns, was all you got. There was no going back to find some secret thing. Nor was there an epic line of guns to replay the game through and give yourself a challenge. And the new dodge mechanics were a joke.

I remember when I first got the game I was VERY happy with it, because It was fun those first playthroughs and I could see how they were trying top fix the series. Than i started my second playthrough and saw the errors of my ways.

RE4 is the best and perfect game. Challenge, scarecity of ammo, demented creatures, cheesy dialogue, a cool lead character, tons of secrets to unlock, costumes, broken things such as the chicago typewriter and the armored suit, multi character campaign, AND a terrific atmosphere.

If the game is hard it won't sell 8 million units. If the game is what we got in RE6, but in the events of the first game, the fans will rip Capcom apart.

So how can Capcom possibly think rebooting is a good idea? They're out of options. They don't intentionally hate us Resident Evil fans and with everything Resident Evil they do, they try so hard to re-appeal to their fanbase while making it accessible for the newcomers. That's no easy feat. So with this "Rebirth" will Capcom try and ignore the extra copies sold and go back to the roots of the series? Or will they casualize it once again proving they don't know what the hell they are doing.

They fixed SSF4 with that ultra thing. I hear good things from the community and so that shows Capcom DOES know how to fix things. So I think Rebirth will fix the series. Whether its a reboot or a continuation.

So after a very wordy post from me, (which I'm sorry for) I believe Capcom can fix it. I believe with this possible reboot, or whatever it is, is them once again trying to fix it. Rebirth is a fantastic name for a series that has long since suffered from name-whoring.

Don't F up this "Rebirth" Capcom, this is YOUR last shot. And all of this is if the dude is right or not. But its obvious Capcom is making another Resident Evil so my obnoxiously long post still has a point hopefully.

If they can at least re-capture the feel of Resident Evil 3, they got it back. RE3 was action packed while remaining survival horror. Hopefully Capcom will shoot for that.

Based on what was said in the main article, this "new" game isn't actually a new reboot but merely a PORT of the 2002 classic remake of RE1.

The 2002 RE1 remake was also known back then as "REbirth".

That game has been exclusive to Nintendo consoles for over 10 years. It was about time it made it over to non-Nintendo consoles.

I would actually opt for a full fledged reboot, as fully changed as Tomb Raider.

People would want their same characters but maybe go serious, humanize them TLoU style and make the zombie horror slower and stay very dark.

I would totally jump on that bandwagon!
They need to go back to basics as far as story and location and learn a bit of game-play from TLoU, a bit of scare tactics from The Evil Within and we could have something special.

The best horrorgames for me are the gamecube remakes: resident evil zero and resident evil,
later resident evil 4 was ok[i didn't like the over the shoulder look],5 and 6 sucked bigtime.
Crapcom will not make such game anymore,i don't trust them after res.e. 5 and 6,i hope that i'm wrong.

I still have my gamecube only for these games.

Talking about remakes, now these were fantastic remakes, and not only Graphics improvement

Got a Gamecube just for the Resident Evil Series, and the Metal Gear Remake as an afterthought 🙂

I picked up a Gamecube shortly after I'd played MGS3 back in '04. Once I found it there was a MGS remake, I went right out and bought one. Then I got into Resident Evil and started buying those. I always keep the Gamecube hooked up. I'll never know when I have an itch for some Metal Gear or Resident Evil.

I don't expect that capcom will make a new game like res.evil 1/2,but when this means they will do a HD remaster of the remake of resident evil on the gameqube ,then i would be very pleased,THE BEST

I hope thats not true when Capcom said RE would be returning to its roots I was hoping for a sequel or brand new game that was scary again/survival horror.. not just a Remake of an old RE game…

I really don't think this is going to be a new game or anything. It's probably just going to be a HD port of the Resident Evil Remake on the gamecube (Which is also titled Rebirth.) If this is true, then they better put some effort into it. I would want to see at least a couple of costumes for each character, and a Mercenaries mode. If all we get is a lazy upscale with a leaderboards system, I will not waste 20 dollars or whatever the price is.

Don't know if I could play RE:R and RE:0 for the 10th time… I would opt for a fresh start like with new Tomb Raider which was very good IMO

meh.
would MUCH rather RE7 building on leons campaign from RE6.
especially going off of how "HD" remakes are lately.
less a true remake, and more same 10 year old painting just with a coat of lacquer on it.
oddworld new n tasty a perfect example, i mean looks pretty decent but come on the ps4 can do SO much better than that!
