Is TLoU: Remastered The Biggest PS4 System Seller Yet?

If you really think about it, a revamped PS3 game might be the single best reason to own a PlayStation 4 right now.

Of course, that's really only true if you've never played TLoU before, as it's unlikely you'd purchase the PS4 for an upgraded version of a title you've already experienced.

However, Sony has stated in the past that the majority of current PS4 owners actually haven't played Naughty Dog's masterpiece, which means The Last Of Us: Remastered could end up generating a pretty hefty sales spike for Sony's new console. Those who wanted one right out of the gate already have one, and many others are waiting for the holidays. But there's another group – and a relatively large one, I'd wager – consisting of gamers who are just looking for a great excuse to dive into the PlayStation world.

If you never played TLoU or worse, you never owned the PS3, the PS4 might prove mighty appealing for a number of reasons, and a very big reason? Yep, the Remastered edition of Joel and Ellie's dramatic adventure. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see PS4 sales rise steeply during the first few weeks of August, would you?

As I have never played TLoU on the PS3, this is a godsend to me as I do have the PS4 and can't wait to finally see this game in action.

You're in for a heck of an experience. Keep your expectations grounded, don't let best game this and generation defining that fill your head, and you'll walk away from it very happy.

I think it's between this and Destiny. TLoU will be a huge boost for people who haven't played before.

When non partisan people think about the full Destiny experience based on media they are not going to think Xbox 360 or Xbox One.

Funny how the Sony and MS PR have pushed the "exclusive" term around so loosely this Gen. The 360 Era, MS definitely weighed in on it more. I guess you have to fight dirty when the exclusives really haven't arrived in full force. But yeah, the Sony brand enjoying limited exclusivity of Destiny definitely set the limelight on the PS4 as the premier Destiny console… Despite both consoles sharing nearly identical graphics (for future buyers watching YouTube-quality videos).

Just depends on whether or not you've played TLoU I'd say.
Otherwise I think Infamous SS is currently the title holder. Pretty sure following it's release Sony claimed PS4 sales doubled XO's in the states at that time. That says something.

Otherwise I think Destiny's MS-style timed exclusivity promotion would probably be pushing more hardware Sony-side.

Several other PS4 games have sold better than Infamous SS, though.

It could be a combination of all of them moving hardware.

I definitely agree that theres not enough people playing it. They sold 7 million copies. What did the other 73 million ps3 owners play anyway? Even the best selling grand theft auto V can't get close to a 20% attach rate.

If we assume all PS3 TLOU owners bought a PS4, theres still 2 million PS4 owners that never touch Naughty Dog's game. Theres definitely a market for this. I just expect that gamers might turn the game down because it has the word "remastered" on it, as if it's an inferior game compared to the rest of the PS4 games out there.

There's not 80 million individual PS3 owners – not even close. That number consist of a sh*tload of broken machines and duplicates sitting in the same homes.

As for me personally I've had three PS3 in total, got two working machines today (a fatty with a noise level of a jet engine and a slim still silent and in perfect order after all these years).

I think what godsman meant to say, is that even if all PS4 owners were former PS3 owners, and every single TLoU purchase on PS3 was made by people within that new group of PS4 owners, there would still be 2 million of them that haven't played it.

of course it is, its the only ps4 game out there that is not meh been there done that!
KZSF meh been there done that, and KZ2&3 were better.
ISS meh been there done that, and 1 and 2 were WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better.
knack been there done that.
and so on.
TLoU is the only ps4 game that brings a new experience no game has offered, hell its one of the only ps3 games that does this!

its pretty pathetic though when your best game is a remake of a last gen game, no?
just goes to show how far behind developers really are on there games this gen.
saw it with the wiiu and now were seeing it with the ps4 too.
not seeing it with the xbox one though, funny the company who has the least amount of first party studios actually has the most exclusives available!
go figure!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it's because MS all but abandoned developing games in the last couple of years of the 360s life.

Best of all – compared to the Ps3 – there are min,al load times to get into the game – oh and this time you get to aim/shoot with the triggers. Easily the best game to date for the PS4 (up to September 9th at the very least)
