The Last Of Us: Remastered is right around the corner, and it has been a headline whore for the majority of 2014.
But here's something you may not have heard: According to what Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer told Eurogamer , this upgraded version of TLoU gives the team a chance to test drive their new PlayStation 4 engine:
"A lot of it was because we could try something out on our PS4 engine. How far can we do it? Can we do a 1080p, 60fps game? We always wanted to do that, but for the types of effects we wanted to put on screen 720p30 was just fine. Now with the push to go even further that's not fine enough. So we're trying to rise to meet that kind of challenge too."
As you might expect, the developers are shooting for 1080p and 60 frames per second in the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief's End . Meyer added that such technical benchmarks will be a goal for "anything we're doing this generation." "That's sort of the mandate from when we were building the PS4 engine," he added. Well, sure. Why not?
Personally, I just can't wait for all this frame per second talk to die down. Gettin' a little tedious.
See? Naughty Dog understands the importance of these kind of specs and how they allow games to break out of last gen experiences with more incredible effects and experiences. ND is on top of the industry as usual.
Agreed, as long as their work ethic on how they approach game-making does not change, they will remain a few step above everyone else.
That being said, I hope this is the first and last Uncharted on PS4, and that their next title has nothing to do with anything they have done before, TLoU included.
Me too, it's time for a new exciting franchise. and ND is just forward thinking in that. They know Drake is close to outliving his usefulness in the gaming arena and that's time to go out on a high note. From there, the sky's the limit and all effing eyes would be on their new franchise.
That's cool, they sure know their craft. Just preordered my copy off PSN today!! Left Behind, MP and Hard without listening here I come! Should be easy compared to Guacamelee! Man, I thought that game was so hard especially Javier Jaguar! He owned me big time. Calaca was easy compared. What a great game on the Vita!

Lol to me it was the opposite. Javier was easier compared to calaca. Really was an enjoyable game and I like the ps4 version better. Can't believe they were able to improve upon the game some more.
Man, everytime I hear about ND it just shows how far they've come. From the amazingly child friendly and fun Crash Bandicoot, to the ultra adult The Last Of Us. I think they're the only company that I feel has aged with me and has been real with what they produce. Just simply sublime.
Gotta love their ways! I must say, 1080/60fps just makes my brain hurt. I wonder what they've implemented from the new engine that wasn't done with the old. I really love the direction Sony took with the PS4 hardware and am glad devs like ND had the opportunity to make it happen. Now they get to build their pride and joy on their pride and joy. Lucky for us!
shouldn't they have remasted uncharted 1 instead or remaster the entire series for the playstation 4?

it does get a lil tiring but its ammo for some ppl in "discussion" lets just say but yeah we knew the benchmark was gunna be 1080 60 from the get go since we'd been at 720 30 last gen you expect to step up don't u well i hope they enjoy meeting this new challenge.
happy gaming
