The Destiny beta is now available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 users and with the exception of some scheduled maintenance, it will continue until July 29.
So, what do you think so far?
Here's your chance to offer up your first impressions of Bungie's hugely anticipated shared-world shooter. If you participated in the alpha, feel free to compare it to that. Obviously, the beta is much larger – it was rumored to have four story chapters, four multiplayer maps, and a co-op mission – and of course, it'll run longer, too. This will give us a good idea as to what to expect from the final product: Game of the Year contender or disappointment?
Thing is, some people see it as just another shooter. Let's also not forget that we're going to get several high-profile shooters this fall. There's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare , Battlefield: Hardline , Evolve , Far Cry 4 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel . That's some seriously steep competition but none really offer what Destiny offers. And remember, they've said several times that Bungie's game could run for ten years…a full decade of multiplayer action, perhaps the epitome of an MMOFPS.
Okay, post up your thoughts!

I'm so excited to play it today, cudn't play yesterday after work, it took time to download, crappy internet connection. I have 2 extra beta codes (bungie sent me 3), i can send to Ben or you can send message on PSN, PSN id: thakash
I'll take that code off your hands!
I'll take love, give me all you've got.
Here you go: they are for PS3, (I still love my PS3 :))

I feel sorta greedy because I have the PS4 beta but I really wanted to feel the game on PS3. Just to see how much better the PS4's is. So thanks for the PS3 code. I grabbed the bottom one 😉

This screenshot gallery is good to see too. From gallery view it doesn't look too different but if you click into each version's picture the clarity and volume of detail can be pretty vast between them.

wait. crap. i honestly just saw the last two entries here. I saw LV claiming he would take "all you got" and then I saw two codes listed… didn't realize hipster wanted one too. so yah, I failed my own scumbag ethics test!
if either one of you is sad I can like buy you a gift or something off the PSN store.

Got a ps4 code for the first one of the two to respond .
@Berserk
…if you still have that PS4 extra beta code, I'd gladly take it off your hands
Tem, I was just asking for all his love. I didn't want or need the beta codes 🙂
oh, GOOD. i thought i messed up hardcore there, LV.
I wish I could contribute but 10gigs is lot to ask from a crummy internet connection.
I moved my PS4 and monitor downstairs. It's pretty much sitting on top of the router. I hope that's not only fast enough to get in the last 5gigs, but maybe soak up all the bandwidth from my annoying house mates in the process.
I hope this game is awesome. It would be nice to have something to replace the addictiveness that Skyrim still has on me.
It's 2014, why do you have crappy internet?!?!
Good question. I only escaped from dial-up about 5 years ago. High (normal) speed internet is much harder to come by than it should be. From my experience it's way better in North America than it is other places. Central Euro hotels rooms for example. Maybe it's just bad luck, but you're right it's 2014 this shouldn't be an issue.
I want to show my friend Destiny later on the weekend and he doesn't have anything beyond his smartphone, so not even sure if I can do that.
It's time like this I sure am glad the world revolted when Micro$oft tried to push the 24hr log in feature. What a jerk move that would have been.
Where do you live? I pay $55 a month for 50mb.
Northern Maine. Close to the border. There are still parts that are dead zones. We don't have any major cites but lot of forest. People still read the newspaper. I guess the wireless companies don't see us as an economical investment.
It's 2014 but not all internet speeds are great. There's a long way to go still. I live in a suburb of friggin Minneapolis, MN and in my house the wifi (can't use ethernet cable-in basement) is terrible. I pay for 30mb but rarely see 10. It's amazing but they've been out like 3x to fix and here I sit… There, thanks for letting me vent.
Stay Classy PSX…
Hey you are from Maine too? Do they have crappy Fairpoint up North? Admittedly they have gotten a good deal better this year my house was paying for 7Mb/s and rarely getting over 2 now we usually stay between 5-6.3 but even now we still drop down to 1Mb/s or less quite often and don't even get me started on the bandwidth. If I try to download one game or video the internet speed for everyone else in the house drops to near 0. =S Also $33 a month for 7Mb/s is a total joke.
Took me IDK 8hrs or so to DL the beta, was actually a bit faster than I thought it would be. XD
Oh also @Vertigo Maine doesn't even have 4G cell service let alone good internet. =S I think it is like $130 a month in Portland for 50Mb/s Comcast.

I just wanted to add to this, as my Internet is absolutely horrible as well, for different reasons though.
I pay $80 for 120 down and 10 up, but the network is so freaking congested, I normally only ever get 20/5.
Online gaming is almost impossible throughout the day, with the speeds stabilizing at 2 in the morning, and screwing up again at 6 AM. That's a 4 hour window of lag free gaming. So, while I do wish to give Destiny a try, I just can't get excited for multiplayer games anymore.
@shanoueepeak
It's really hit or miss. My parents place is in the middle of nowhere and they get adequate speeds. (Don't know the exact numbers) But this was only recent. My sister was only able to get semi decent speeds a year ago and it slows down to a crawl more often than not.
It really is pretty pathetic. For the longest time I could only hear about how amazing streaming services, dlc, and online play was. Now we're getting there, but the internet is still far from an accepted commodity.

Well at least you get fresh seafood at a reasonable price. I'd trade my internet speed for that in a heartbeat.
If anyone wants me to join them. The PSN ID is… MRSUCCESS
I'd like to tell ya but it took all day to download. I'm gonna try to play today.
Me as well. Awful long download, but should be able to play tonight.
It feels more directed this time. Unlike the alpha it doesn't drop you on a planet and say go do stuff. The graphics seem better with stronger effects and lighting. I like how it establishes the plot and the purpose behind your actions. It feels epic like that.
It doesn't seem too different content wise from the alpha.
I decided to try a warlock this time. He,s only lvl 6. I like his jump glide. Initially I thought it sucked but it seems to pay off when adventuring. You can safely glide down high hill tops without taking damage. It feels really handy in that regard. Combat wise that ability feels useless as it makes you an easy target.
Overall it feels really polished and hype worthy.

I gotta be a gunslinger
I have been playing Warlock as well. Very impressed so far. The shooting is very tight and responsive. I am only level 3.
Quick question: what level do you get access to the speeder bike Shrike?
i think story mission 4 maybe 5.
The Warlock's double jump ability is awesome. I love it.
I use it heavily in PvP as well. I am able to time it perfectly in most cases to land where I want to land, by cancelling the double jump at certain points.
The content is almost itself is almost the same. It seems as though the Alpha dropped you into the game at around the end of Story Mission 2. The Beta starts the game at the very beginning, I like the start of it as well.
I do like that it has more story than the alpha. I think it still has a level 8 cap so there's still that limit to how high you can go. Seeing some of the cinematics in it is pretty nice as it gives more of the story behind what it is you're doing.
Been playing last night and a little this morning – it's definitely not another shooter. Great atmosphere and very polished.
Got a level 6 Titan and a Level 2 Warlock. I don't feel like I have enough experience to speak about either character, but the shooting feels good, the speeder is my favorite thing ever (sounds like the speeder in Star Wars), and the game itself just overall feels great and I'm liking it a lot.
All that talk of Internet speeds. I know the pain though. I love how sometimes the internet speed dies on me, and goes 0.50 when its supposed to be 50mbps. I call and complain and what do they say "Try resetting it"
I try to be a non-violent person but those sob's bring out the animalistic violent nature in me. I just wanna wail on those bastardo's. Making me pay all this damn money, and raise it every 6 months, and I get the crappiest customer service not seen since Microsoft's, and all they do to fix the issue is tell me the most basic thing ever. And to have them come out could cost a fortune. GAH! I do feel sorry for the others who have it worse though, sorry dudes.
Now…as for the Beta!
Its the same as the Alpha. It'll be fun to play eventually but all i want this year is Evil Within so this one's going on the backburner for sure now. Its not going to be the most epic game to me, but to others I could see it being their new Skyrims.
Did I sign and NDA?
I expected a lot more. The level cap is still only at 8 the area we are given to explore is the same one from the Alpha. Apparently each mission is called a "chapter", when I heard we get to play through 4 chapters I expected more. I was hoping Bungie would bump the level cap up to 15 so we could at least try out the sub-classes. I was still on the fence after the Alpha and as it stands now I am still wait and see.
Anyone with with a extra Beta code for PS3? Kokushi26 is my PSN ID.
Thanks in advance.
Simply Amazing! GOTY 2014! The game is solid technically as a Beta. The control, sound, graphics are extremely high production values. I am playing as a Titan and having a blast. I am level 5 and will probably get to level 8 tonight.
It s pretty good so far , the shooting is great . Sadly the story so far feel like an mmo one ( mostly boring ) .
Love that you don t get loots every 2-3 kills .Make you happy when you see one pop up .
One extra code…HF53-DKN4-LG3F
Here is a ps4 NA code , tell us if you took them 🙂

PSN name Highlightreel if you care.
Stay Classy PSX…
Thanks @highlightreel I snagged the 2nd one. Finally have a free weekend to play something like this. Looking forward to checking it out!
I think this game is going to be a ….. 9.0 grade. It certain situations you MUST have help. And as this is a mmo type game, you better not come in this game 1 year from now and hope to get that said help …. because like most mmo's on consoles, they tend to taper down big time in terms of players.
There has been a few FPS online only games that required many people to play but died out because of a lack of eventual players.
I disagree. I would have no problems helping out someone who joins this game a year from now.
The only times it annoys me, are when people are unreasonably stupid, and don't listen to me when I try to help them over my mic.
We will have to see how the community goes, because if it drops off then the game will be hurt by it, since Strikes, Raids and PvP all require full fireteams to even play them.
But I have been highly impressed so far with the Beta, in the Alpha there were times when I found no one at all, but in the Beta I have NEVER seen a single area that wasn't populated by other players.
its looks great and all but hasnt really blown me away. I guess my hopes were set to high for this generation of gaming.
I guess if Destiny doesn't meet your standards, I doubt anything will for awhile.
I am almost at level 8 playing as a warlock and I am really enjoying it. I find the shooting to be precise and smooth. Best in a first person shooter imo. I would like to see more diverse enemies and bigger bosses but I am sure that is coming with the retail version in September. The raids could be epic in this game. Story is good but not great; however, it is all about gameplay and this has it.
I'd love a code, actually… if anyone has any left over, my PSN is the same as my handle here.
Underdog15 your in the EU right?
No, sorry. NA. Canada.
