Will Your Destiny Beta Progress Carry Over? Maybe…

It's always an important question: Will any progress we make in the beta test carry over into the final version?

The Destiny beta test kicks off this week on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 (it'll be available on Xbox platforms on July 23). But will our progress indeed be saved?

Well, that's a good news-bad news situation. The good news is that it appears to be a possibility. The bad news is that as of yet, Bungie hasn't made a decision. According to what Bungie community manager David "Deej" Dague told Eurogamer , they just can't make any promises right now.

"The beta is a test. It's extremely unknown as to what the outcome will be. So, it's certainly not a promise or an announcement that we're making at this time. It all depends on what we learn and how things shake out. So, we're certainly not telling players they can carry their progress over, but we haven't made any announcements either way."

You can get into the beta by pre-ordering the game, and we've heard that this test will feature four story chapters, four competitive multiplayer maps, a co-op Strike mission, and a very large portion of the world to explore. It's bound to be a ton of fun and we sincerely hope our progress will carry over to the final product.

my goal with the beta is to experiment with other classes and configs I wouldn't normally do by default if it were my first go with the game.

anyone who pre-ordered the game receive their codes from Bungie yet? I'm still waiting but I expect them any time now.

I've got mine for PS4. Redeemed it and get this: "Come back on Jul 17 2014 to get your download code(s)!"

I hope their servers are ready for what will happen after the beta. We wouldn't want another monstrous crash would we?

What I really want is for people like me, who sometimes buy games on both current gen consoles, an option of some sort to continue your progress on either console.

i really hope the beta character doesnt crossover into the real game. and yes, its for exact selfish reasons, bc i dont get to play it lol. i have a beta code but no game or ps4 to play it on.

how ironic that when u preorder the white ps4/destiny bundle, u get the codes……but with nothing to play. how does that even make sense?

when you get your code, just select the PS3 or XB360 (whichever you have) and you can do the beat on that platform.

I thought it was already confirmed that beta progress won't be carried over? but if you're present on July 26 beginning at 2PM PDT they'll provide a special reward (an exclusive emblem) for those who makes an appearance in the Tower or in the frontiers beyond its walls.

I'll start from the beginning either way.

I want the final product to be a new experience, just like the Beta is a new experience over the Alpha.
