Has anyone noticed that the hype surrounding The Last Of Us: Remastered is almost as high as the hype surrounding the original release?
Why is this?
Okay, undoubtedly, TLoU generates plenty of discussion. There are those who believe it's another masterful instant classic from developer Naughty Dog, while others insist it's wildly overrated. This conflict alone causes lots of incendiary headlines and general attention.
There's also quite a bit of backlash whenever an upgraded version of an old game comes out. Many gamers call it nothing but a simple (and shameless) cash grab by the publishers, while the more reasonable simply say, "you don't have to buy it again, ya know." And besides, there's nothing wrong with giving more people a chance to play a great title. That doesn't change the fact that "definitive" editions of existing games will always be controversial in some way.
Then again, maybe we see all this hype surrounding The Last Of Us: Remastered because there just isn't anything else to talk about. The summer is quite barren and really, we're spending the majority of our time talking about games that won't arrive at least until September; Destiny being first on the list. The point is that between now and then, there's very little to discuss, right? So, maybe that's why there are hard-hitting TLoU headlines every day…it's a slow time for news, that's all.

Well from what I read on another site its due to people who now own a ps4 who moved from xbox or a Nintendo console. There were a ton of comments saying things like "Man I had a 360 so I never got to play it but now that i have a ps4 I totally get to enjoy the better version of it!"
I don't doubt the hype as the game completely deserves it. GOTY again though… No, totally unfair.
Stuff like Tomb Raider deserves the controversy I believe, but The Last of Us is exclusive and as everyone has been saying the new Playstation converts deserve ALL of the consumer-first love from Sony that we have enjoyed all these years.
Giving them the opportunity to play it, and in a better state than it was played by PS3 owners, is basically a good deed for gamers in general.
Yes it's going to still cost you money because it cost them money, but that aside it looks a lot like a bonus for new PS converts.
And that's good, we must increase our numbers so we want them happy.
But doesn't this releasing force us all to spend high amounts of money on it? From what I've read from some people, it sounds like this is released for the sole purpose of insulting me. And that contradicts all the special comments my mom made about me when I was growing up. That's bad, World. Bad!
I would think PS4 version should release a year before Last of Us 2 comes out. Much like the remastered god of war 1 & 2 before god of war 3 releases.
@Underdog
This release doesn't force anyone to make a purchase. The choice is still yours. As World said and What PS has noted, there are tons of new converts. These and the many of us, for whatever reason, who didn't get a chance to play it on PS3 are the target market. To my understanding, it being "remastered" is what is making many feel slighted but if you look at the many games that are ported to PC with better graphics and frame rate is this really any different. Don't feel insulted simply except it for what it is…ported.
I guess I forgot to add….

It should probably be $40, I'll give the haters that.
July 17th is Destiny, but if it's $30… I'll take time for TLoU
I didn't get this game for PS3 so I'm one of those that's truly looking forward to the title. I'll wait to get a good deal on it though. There's no rush.
I bought KillZone: SF for $40 and it's running for $20 this week @_@
Funny how the highest rated games of 2013 (LoU & GTAV) is the most hated of 2014 because the quality is better.
Oddly enough, the most hate I've read in comments have either been from XBOX sites (not surprising) and this site. lol. Most people around the net seemed pretty stoked about it.

I haven't paid attention to the whining. If anything, people blast the price tag. In all honesty, that's simply an opinion that baffles me. I can't tell you what a game is worth without trying it OR basing your decision(s) on a reliable review.
I'm sick of all the flag waving and declaration of fanboyism, so I choose the best route possible; ignore it until there's a valid reason to acknowledge the crap some will spew.
In any case it will be the best game graphically, hell the PS3 version is still better than any next gen game.
Second Son has decent graphics for next Gen. It's unusual to see how poor some texture detail is during gameplay, whereas other more sophisticated textures are all like eerrmuhgurd! It's the prettiest ps4 I've yet to play; Watchdogs is purty, too. Especially at night with the wet textures.
I haven't played TLoU yet. Can't wait to see it for myself; REMASTERED!
I think there's more to it than hype. Naughty Dog is entering the next Gen realm and doing so sooner than most of us anticipated. Being that the ps3 version was a great game is one thing; this is a pretty fresh game. It's not a 2007 ps3 first debut game that they're ramping up. Considering how far they've pushed the ps3,the effort to iron out the bugs, and the detail they're investing into this game… Well, it's a lot of work! Work that is best awarded by shutting up and giving them your money… If you want to do so and I very much do.
