If and when this game shows up, it better blow everyone's hair back.
Here's the thing: I'm not one for hype. I tend to forget about games as time goes on; I've got other things to do.
However, considering the direction this industry is taking, I could argue that The Last Guardian is currently my most anticipated project on the next-gen horizon. Everything else appears to be similar to or derivatives of existing formulas.
This isn't Duke Nukem Forever . This is an entirely different beast; this is a project from the team that made ICO and Shadow of the Colossus . Core gamers are not merely expecting greatness, they're expecting brilliance . On top of which, they're expecting originality. There was no other game like SotC and from what we know of Guardian , it's impossible to compare it to anything else. Yes, there's a lot of pressure but that's to be expected.
I think Sony understands all this, and that's why we haven't seen or heard anything about the game. They know that if it falls even a little shy of the public's increasingly amped-up expectations, Sony will have to reap the whirlwind of negative feedback. They've got one shot to get this right, as far as I'm concerned, and I better be impressed.

this game is starting to turn into the same fantasy as to how people want a ff7 remake. like you said, if and when this game is shown, it better exceed expectations.
Wow, talk about entitled.
Didn't think either Ico or Shadow of the Colossus were fantastic games. Don't know if that's my young ignorance talking or my platforming skills didn't allow me to enjoy it properly. When this comes out it really should blow the fans away, but at the same time why let it build up that high? I did that with Skyrim and in the end due to the failure it was to me I resented and hated it. Don't let yourself believe its going to be the best thing ever unless you are absolutely sure so you don't end up hating the game and instead love it for what it is and not what it could have been.
These are kind of different animals since they are original and artistic as opposed to commercial.
Japan studio makes great games, just wish they'd give us a solid release platform.
You know, when I first heard that music played with the video they showed of this game, it almost brought tears to me eyes. Hell I just wanted to buy the soundtrack to the game.
Yes, it sure as hell BETTER be a masterpiece.
It kind of reminds me of the constant delays that came with every zelda game. I hope the outcome will be the same.
If anyone can pull it off and make all.anxiety from this whole ordeal disappear in an instant, it's Team Ico. Whenever they show it, of it ever happens, I expect to be amazed.
they have one hell of a shoe to fill!
in development since 05 at the least and we still have seen JACK!
stakes were already pretty high because of what the team put out previously, but this ridiculously long record breaking development hell is just made it that much harder for this to come out and actually not disappoint people, let alone meeting expectations, let alone exceeding them!
if this ever sees the light of day ill be buying myself a lottery ticket, and if it ends up impressing people ill be buying a whole truck full of them!
And if it doesn't? I don't know if any developer is even equipped to handle that kind of unbelievably high expectations, especially now on the PS4 when people will be expecting the game to look even more high fidelity. Games are already hard to make and when you add this kind of pressure to the mix I would think that has a adverse effect on the game developement. No game is perfect.
aren't they turning it into a shooter now so that it'll sell ?
Isn't that joke like 2 years too late?
