Yes, we realize that Titanfall isn't available on a PlayStation console.
However, there's a very good chance that the sequel will indeed come to the PlayStation 4. In fact, I'd say it's inevitable.
And therefore, we reserve the right to report on any news concerning a new entry, if that's all right with the PlayStation faithful. 😉 Anyway, according to a new Game Informer interview with Respawn Entertainment COO Dusty Welch, it seems Titanfall 2 might include a single-player campaign. Well, at least they haven't ruled it out, but a campaign won't be included at the expense of the online multiplayer focus:
"I think that there's a lot of reward in continuing to push the paradigm that Titanfall introduced, which is this always-connected, real live visceral multiplayer universe. We learned a lot, and I think it's up to us to think about how we apply the learning to make the next game even more expansive and more engaging than the first."
Titanfall got plenty of flak for not including a campaign of any kind, but perhaps that may be a standard model in the years to come. Bigger worlds that are often shared appear to be the future trend; ala games like Destiny . Multiplayer is the crux of all FPS success these days, anyway, right? Still, the only way I'd buy Titanfall 2 is if it had a true campaign, so…

I tried it out last week and while I enjoyed the visuals and the animations I wasn't impressed with the gameplay. It just felt like COD with mechs. I'm not a fan of the fast paced shooting mechanics. There isn't much strategy involved with these type of games.
Yeah, it's the same "run-and-gun" style type of gameplay that is COD. You can pretty much ignore everyone else on your team and be fine. That may appeal to some people but for me that get's old fast, especially if there aren't anything to unlock or work toward.
It's certainly no Killzone SF, where team support and, dare I say coordination, is essential to winning.
15 years of Counterstrike has conditioned me to expect a certain level of strategy.

here's more info from an interview with CVG I read this morning
I'm really impressed by the game. Jeesh, I'm turning into a FPS-twitch gamer right before my eyes! It's great and wrong but cool!
It happens to me like I'm a werewolf, every now and then I just transform into a shooter nerd. Eventually I change back though, then I wake up nude in the woods and it's awkward.
Without a single player campaign (or at least one in the vein of what Destiny has) I won't even consider it. If they are smart, they'll rip as much from Destiny as they can. Turn Titanfall into an MMO/RPG/FPS. I think it would be a lot of fun to upgrade the mechs!
Otherwise – meh.
I may be one of the few people that actually plays the single player campaign in those games. That's a must for me.
Also, when I tried my hands at Titanfall, there were a couple things I didn't like – I hate how you can be doing well and feel like a complete BA until the scoreboard comes up and you realize that you only killed 5 pilots and the rest were grunts. It's very deflating. And Respawn needs to get the cloaking right, maybe take a page out of Killzone's book. Looking through the killcam, I (while cloaked) look more apparent and visible than my non-cloaked teammates running right next to me. Pretty bad.
It needs it.
Shoulda been there in the first place.
