PSXE Poll Update: Sony Won E3 2014, But It Was Close

Another year, another post-E3 evaluation.

When we asked our readers which of the "Big 3" won the battle of the conferences, the majority of participants said Sony came out on top. Maybe that's not too surprising, but it's interesting that a whole lot of people voted for "all three" or "none."

This tells us that most viewers considered E3 2014 to be a close race. It's true that Sony unveiled several hugely promising games, and one could argue that strictly from a software standpoint, Sony typically wins these E3 presentations. But it's not like Microsoft and Nintendo were light on the games during their conferences; it seemed like all three companies were intent on focusing on software. And that's what we like to see.

This week, we want to know your thoughts on the Destiny alpha. Obviously, you would've had to have played it to form an opinion, right? If you did, what say you? Is it a fantastic start to what could be the Game of the Year? Or were you a little disappointed? Let us know.

I thought Sony and MS had equally successful presentations. Sony dragged quite a bit near the middle. I thought Sunset Overdrive looked really fun. There's talks now that Rare (which isn't at all the same company anymore) could possibly be making another Banjo Kazooie. I made the mistake of buying a 360 years ago for Nuts and Bolts. I'd still probably do the same if it's for real.

Sunset Overdrive looks like the exclusive of the gen so far. Looks darn fun.

I think Sunset might be too silly for the crowd it's trying to catch.

All i can agree with is that no matter what company people think won, they are right :p

They all had good conference , it s all about what company had the most game you were interested in .

We get it, it's time to stop saying "It's all about the games" on stage. We like understand that.

Destiny was a top quality alpha, proving Bungie's ability to create a solid, stable online persistent world but I didn't see any hints of greatness, newness, or that special something that makes the game worth more than just a month's play but to invest in for years. I think it is critical that they do more than have a hub and then missions. There should be more connective tissue and dramatic highlights that blur SP and MP. Otherwise it will just be like a big online component that every FPS gets.

MS bringing dead IPs from the graveyard to try and stay relevant with Nintendo and Sony is pretty bad.

Nintendo making even more Mario games is bad but there was so much good in what they showed. That X game is going to pull in quite a bit of sales as well.

Sony has Bloodborne, I'm sold on that alone.

And Destiny is cool.

Bloodborne won the whole thing for Sony.

so cock waving, comic books, and literally no presence of first party studios "wins" E3?
