Pavilion Extended Trailer Released, “Fourth-Person” Explained

When Visiontrick media first unveiled Pavilion at last year's Tokyo Game Show, it got plenty of attention.

The developers described the project as a "fourth-person exploratory experience about guidance, influence and subliminal control." Basically, this means you don't control the main character but rather, the world around him. This "indirect control" is what Visiontrick is referring to as "fourth-person."

Now, they've released an extended trailer for the promising title and Visiontrick co-founder and creative director Henrik Flink talked more about the game over at the PlayStation Blog . Most importantly, there are three components that comprise the gameplay mechanic: The first is the protagonist himself; "his behaviors and personality need to be observed, understood and aided." The second component is the environment, as this directly affects the character.

The third component is the interactive objects within the world that the player can manipulate. This has a direct impact on the environment and an indirect impact on the main character. Added Flink:

"We’re also happy to see conversations about the fourth person term. Though, the indirect steering is not solely the reason for us to use the term. Unfortunately we can’t go deeper into its meanings without spoiling certain parts of the experience that we’d rather have you experience while playing."

I'm with Limited on this one. The idea sounds fresh and interesting. The video was pretty bland.

Honestly I'm not even sure what I watched. What actually was even happening? What did they even interact with in the environment?
