Nolan North, the voice of Drake, has expressed his belief that Uncharted 4 will bring a close to the series.
"It’s bittersweet but at a certain point you want to go out on top," North told IGN. "If this is the last one indeed, and I believe it’s the last one – nothing’s confirmed, but I believe it’s the last one Naughty Dog wants to do, in which case I hope somebody else doesn’t pick up the mantle because they’ve done it so well for so long – but yeah, it’s one of those things where you just have to cross that bridge when you get to it…I like the idea of going out on top so we better do a hell of a job with this one… and it’s already looking pretty good."
Gamers have been speculating about that Thief's End subtitle after the E3 reveal and many would tend to agree with North. What is especially interesting is that he would prefer the series just end rather than drag on into sub par territory.
That is an opinion which this gamer would like to see more of in this climate of profit milking practices.

Kudos to Mr. North. Milking a franchise will only make your fans hate it… unless it's COD.
I think most fans still hate it though… it's like a bad drug.
A 4th solid console games is a good place to end the series,just need 2 more on vita !!!
I think E3 pretty much confirmed Sony has un-officially quit on the Vita with meaningful software support. It's no longer a self-sustaining platform. It depends on everything else around it to make it viable.

I'd be very happy to see Naughty Dog move onto something different after A Thief's End, even though I really do love the Uncharted series. I just think that taking it further would be taking it too far, and that it's better for them to experiment with new ideas and a new formula, as they did with TLoU than to rely on UC for too long. I just hope that Sony is willing to let sleeping dogs lie.
If Naughty Dog moves away from the ip SOny surely wont. I think choosing a new set of faces for the Uncharted experience could be a positive thing for the series. Assassin's Creed, for example, successfully tells new character stories with many of it's entries and the series isn't worse for it.
The difference is AC tells many different characters stories and is meant to, with only Desmond being the constant. Uncharted tells Nates story and there is no other lead characters. You can't just toss another character in and expect a better or the same outcome, because fans of Uncharted are fascinated by Nates adventures. There would need to be a protege or something involved and let the torch be passed.
Let's be realistic because ND is creating a new Uncharted every 2-3 years. They created 4 of the best games (2 new ip's) ever in one console generation. They obviously can develop games along side eachother. They can continue to create Uncharted (if not for you) and still create other games because the fans want Uncharted. And thats partly because there's never been closure, only completion. Depending on Uncharted 4, will determine the future for Uncharted. And if there is an Uncharted 5, three years later it will be because the series is still successful. .
If A Thiefs End sells well they should turn it into a franchise.

Keep Uncharted, just don't do the annualization thing. Give it a new protagonist if you want, but don't abandon the franchise.

Yeah – Nate's story may be coming to a close, but that cash register ringing sound will keep churning along with profits from "Uncharted" games for a while to come, methinks.
Which is fine with me. BUT I would like to see this current cast of characters get a break and retire to the Bahamas! They deserve it.
Truth be told Nate can't handle that. He loves the adventure and is fascinated by treasure. The developers know this…
yeah i will agree with you guys their is no need to spoil the series for the sake of money.
i wouldn't mind them moving onto something else of finishing of another series in the same way(or a few more) cough cough jak 4 cough cough.

Hope it is the last one and they don't milk the system like CoD does. But I can't wait for Uncharted 4 to come out. Will be jaw dropping to look at and play on the ps4. No doubt.
