Naughty Dog Talks Uncharted 4: Story And Gameplay Details

After seeing that beautiful trailer at the end of Sony's E3 conference, gamers everywhere have been begging for new information.

We got some thanks to a new video released by Sony, in which Naughty Dog bosses Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley talk about how they're approaching Uncharted 4: A Thief's End , and how their work on The Last Of Us has influenced the new project. They also spoke about how the PlayStation 4 is allowing them to push the envelope…again:

" [With] The Last of Us, we went to great lengths to try to create this reality, but we were still limited by the amount of overdraw the PS3 could handle, etc. Now, the PS4 is allowing us to push so much more density, so it's fun to go back and go like, 'Oh, look at the things we wish we could have done in Uncharted 1, it's just like, this is easy, let's just make this.' It's nice to be able to explore something and look back and go, 'Wow, remember when we couldn't do any of this?' It's kind of neat. "

We also received an official synopsis for the storyline, which is somewhat vague but still helpful. It says that protagonist Drake is "forced back into the world of thieves" and he's hunting some sort of "fabled pirate treasure." It will test Drake to the absolute limits, too. Of course, we're all wondering if the title is a hint; could this be the last Uncharted game? Or maybe just the last series title to include Nathan Drake?

As for gameplay, here's what to expect, according to Straley:

"Gameplay-wise, we're just going deeper and richer with all the mechanics. It's still going to be a roller-coaster ride and it's still going to have that pacing. We still want you on the edge of your seat, but at the same time, we want to make sure that you as players – I, as a player – want to play this thing and feel invested. And we want to make sure we have that with the epic, with the pacing, with the characters that we're known for."
