MGSV: The Phantom Pain Gameplay: Snake In A Box

It's still a ways off, but at least we get another peek at it.

During a Konami Station video presentation, the publisher provided gamers with a live demo of the PlayStation 4 version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain . You can watch the full presentation here but if you only have time for the gameplay sequence, it's below.

Veteran fans of the franchise will appreciate this footage, 'cuz it features the iconic box. Yes, only in MGS is a box actually "iconic," because you've been able to hide in a box since the beginning of the series (or did it start in MGS2?). In MGSV, Snake can burst out of the box and surprise enemies, which is an awfully sneaky trick, and one I'd like to try.

Konami released Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes , the prelude to The Phantom Pain , back in March. Unfortunately, we have to wait until some time later next year before the full experience arrives.

Im letting my doubts get to me. I just keep feeling that this franchise shouldn't have been brought to an open world design. By doing so I feel it brings itself into the domain of other popular AAA franchises and the standard to impress will have to be extraordinary. What I see is looking nice, but I just don't know if it's enough to meet the standards of the last core games.
I saw a graph from dual shockers showing the map sizes etc. I find it interesting that the most linear looking one of them all happens to be my favorite MGS game. That is, MGS3.

So after Ground Zeroes we go back to extremely small gameplay videos? oh well….xD

Hahaha! Amazing! I really cannot wait to surprise an enemy with that move. This is just a prime example of why Metal Gear's gameplay is just so much more creative than other series, i love it!

This seriously could be the game to make me buy a PS4, I really want to experience this in all it's glory.

Apparently the box cannot suppress the grass so it stabs right through it, that woulda been next gen if it did 🙂

Yeah the collision detection is actually kinda disappointing. 10 bucks says if Ground Zeros was PS4 exclusive we wouldn't have even seen the magic ghost grass in that.

Have you guys seen the part where Hideo Kojima compared the freaking MAPS between all of the Metal Gear Solid games?

PHANTOM PAIN IS FREAKING HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.

not sure what to expect from this, GZ was a freaking mess to say the least!
knew going open world would be a MASSIVE mistake, just does not work for a stealth game!
