But even before E3, it seems Sony's new console may enjoy quite the positive week. According to popular industry insider Tidux, PlayStation 4 owners are in for a treat. This according to one of his recent Tweets :
"Next week is the most exciting in the whole year, are you ready? #GreatnessAwaits #PS4"
Tidux also confirmed that the long-awaited network update slated for the PS4 will arrive today (Monday). As for what to expect in the way of official news this week, it's hard to say. On the one hand, Sony probably wants to do something to counter the $399 Xbox One that will become available on June 9 in North America. On the other hand, they don't want to blow any surprises they have on tap for E3, right?
So, predictions for this week?
Major update? Heard or read nothing of it. Or did I? What's it bringing?
PlayStation now
Had it for a while even got into the very first batch for the PS4 beta, it still needs quite a bit of work.
It is one of the biggest bandwidth hogs I have ever seen, almost as bad as torrenting a bunch of things at once, I start out with a lil over 7Mbps which according to Now is more than enough to stream at "the highest quality" if I remember the original email I think it said you would need 5Mbps to stream in high quality. Anyways soon as I start PS Now up my speed starts taking a huge nosedive and after about an hour of play I get to around 2-3Mbps and even from there it keeps going down.
Good news is even when my internet craps out and I lose so much visual quality it looks like a 360p Youtube stream the games remain VERY responsive, like shockingly so, there is no noticeable lag in gameplay at all.
Yeah I'm on the beta too. But agree with Shauneepeak – it needs work.
Now admittedly I'm connected via WiFi (fast dual-band LinkSys E4200), and have an 18 MBPs connection, but the visual/streaming quality reality needs to get better.
Actually, that's an area that seems to suffer across PSN – even game trailers on PSN suffer from frequent buffering pauses (with the rotating symbol). As opposed to this, any game trailer on XBL is pretty much instantaneous.
I really, really prefer the PS ecosystem and its games, and really hope that Sony can improve on this.
Well it doesn't have much to top to be the most exciting but I wouldn't say no to a PS1/PS2 Emulator and the ability to play my own digital movie files!
yeah i think PS now maybe have something to do with it but it will be it'll interesting certainly to see what they actually do.

Media support. There's pretty much no game news they can bring that would be a big deal now because anything they announce won't see fruition for months anyway (maybe even next year). If they announce FULL media support (audio/video/picture/themes) they will again sell out all of the PS4s that have recently found their way back into stores.
Also, my feeling is that Playstation Now still needs too much explanation to sell systems. It will be bigger on mobile and TVs as it's something new and the devices are already in people's hands but who's going to go into a store to buy a PS4 because of PS Now?
