If you've always loved flight games, War Thunder is the answer to your prayers.
Gaijin Entertainment has announced that the popular World War II MMO will hit the PlayStation 4 in North America on June 3. The title is already available in Europe on Sony's machine, and it has launched everywhere for the PC.
War Thunder is a free-to-play experience, and it'll run in "majestic 1080p" on the PS4. The new iteration will also boast the freshly released Ground Forces expansion, and players can look forward to cross-platform play between the PS4 and PC; the developer plans to implement that feature "in the very near future." With 350 different planes, 150 multiplayer missions, and even a single-player campaign, this game has a little something for all aviation aficionados.
And don't worry, you won't be alone: Over 7 million players enjoy War Thunder 's entertainment, so the skies should be full of willing participants. If you're wondering why the game isn't coming to the Xbox One, it's because Microsoft doesn't allow for cross-platform play with the PC. That greatly limits the available pool of players, and Gaijin isn't a fan of that.
So, you takin' to the air next week?

I highly recommend giving this a go when it releases – I've been playing it since launch on PS4 and it's a blast. While it has an online focus, the mission editor (available from the test flight menu for any plane you've unlocked) lets you build any SP mission you want and play it, and goes well :).
Also, if you don't like flying, Ground Forces is adding in playable tanks and AA vehicles.
