Seems like a lot of new games have online difficulty when they first launch.
We all remember the issues Grand Theft Auto Online faced, and the Battlefield 4 ordeal has been well-documented. Now, it appears as if the recently released Watch Dogs is running into similar roadblocks.
A number of players have experienced problems logging in, for example, and Ubisoft is aware of that issue, as evidenced by this Tweet :
"We are experiencing issues with the authentication services. Players may experience long delays when trying to login in-game."
But that's not all. Gamers have also complained of not being able to connect to Uplay, which is a big problem especially for PC users (who have to log in to play). Ubisoft posted up a comment in the company's forums that cites "an exceptional increase of activity" and their servers just aren't "responding as fast as usual."
Other players have reported various crashing and freezing issues, along with pre-ordered content not unlocking. Here's hoping Ubisoft clears all this up soon.
Related Game(s): Watch Dogs
Not a good impression. What I hate about all Ubisoft games is every time you play them they try to force you into Uplay. And every time I have to be like f*ck that!
…Single Player only games are great aren't they?
"…Single Player only games are great aren't they?"
Not with ubisoft, still have to sign up to their track everything you do system and be online in order to play by yourself.
Yeah Uplay is horrible, but it's fairly easy to crack their games to bypass the Uplay requirement. So far I haven't had a problem logging in but I know some who have. Bypassing Uplay would just disable the multiplayer portion of the game. Which usually wouldn't bother me, but Watch Dogs has a really impressive feature. It's cool as hell when you're playing a "single player" game, and you find out that another player is in your world watching you and trying to complete a hack job within your world. They can be tough to find as you don't know what they look like.
I do like the fact that fulfilling certain requirements in games will award points that can be used to unlock weapons and other perks in that game or others. If they pooled the points across platforms instead of limiting them to one at a time (e.g. points earned on PS3 games won't carry over to PS4)them I'd have no issues with it. Of course, they should allow people the option to switch it off but I like the concept of encouraging repeat business by granting benefits in-game.
….muh…maybe Aiden Spears is real. Like he's attacking Ubisoft's own servers with his smartphone and hack'tastic apps! He's probably watching XO gamers right now playing Watch Dogs through their Kinect.

Aidan Pearce, not Aidan Spears. 🙂
This is why even though I thought this game looked amazing and it was right up my alley and looked to be doing everything the way I would want them to, I had no interest in pre-ordering it.
Ubisoft has been doing this the last few years and I can't stand playing anything they make because every time you try to start a game, even single player, you have to sign up and sign in and fill out government forms, and on and on. Then the game doesn't work anyway.
Ubisoft makes plenty of stuff that draws my attention, but in all reality I find their triple a games to be sub par compared to most of the games that I love. I will eventually get this game, but I'll buy it at the $20 mark because of their terrible delivery of the product.
Good thing Ubisoft's DRM is working out for them…oh…
Can't say I've experienced any issues seeing how I haven't played the game 😀
howd i know this would happen?
i miss the good old days where you bought a game, and it WORKED!
not bought a game, then spent the next several months in contact with tech support to get the f*cking thing to work!
if its like this now, after a SEVEN month delay, id hate to see what it would of been like had it hit its original date!
started the game last night, tried to redeem my codes and it refused to bring up the system display to enter the codes.
ah, f*ck it, watched the cut scenes, got into the first bit of gameplay………. CRASH!
start game………….. CRASH!
start game………… CRASH!
rinse and repeat, now whenever i open the game it instantly crashes.
its funny, at work theres 7 of us who have bought the game on ps4, and NONE of us can get the f*cking game working!
sigh, knew i should of bought this on PC!
guess im going to EB tomorrow swapping it over.

Welp another game im glad i didnt buy day one.
This least optimized game I have ever played. GTA V on ps3 looks better than this and it has a better frame rate.
