Do you find anything offensive about this box art?
Some people apparently did, which is why controversy emerged, prompting Ubisoft creative director Alex Hutchinson to comment on the situation.
As you can see, the box art shows a man sitting atop a busted statue, and holding his hand on the head of a darker-skinned man. Some have interpreted this image as potentially racist; ala the white owner and the black slave. However, Hutchinson jumped on Twitter to clear things up:
"Just so it's clear for those jumping to conclusions: He's not white and that's not the player."
You're going to offend someone no matter what, that's just the way of the world. I wouldn't be able to handle being a developer today, that's for sure. Anyway, in Far Cry 4 , players assume the role of Ajay Ghale, who gets involved in a civil war in the country of Kyrat. That's about all we know for now, but we do know it's coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 18.
Related Game(s): Far Cry 4
Some people need to relax a little.
And relax with a video game perhaps. Might I suggest Far Cry 4?
People are always looking for a place to play the race card, they need to get over themselves.
It does look like on the nose race weirdness, that guy is positively glowing in all his white glory over the brown man even if the character isn't supposed to be white. I can see how it would remind folks of a terrible chapter in history. I'm mostly offended by how it looks just like Far Cry 3 though.
The only problem with the idiot masses, is that every color has owned slaves and every color has been slaves. Muslims enslaved more white Europeans than any other ethnic group, and would anyone be offended if the "king" was brown and the "slave" was white? Nope. FACT, people who get offended are brain-washed (usually by their television).
Are you fu…
No complains would be heard if it was a darker skinned man with his hand on a lighter skinned mans head though. Funny how it works. Than again, this reminds me of people who said Daylight sucked because the writer was a woman.
This is getting ridiculous.
To be fair it wouldn't touch any nerves since black and brown oppression never happened.
Daylight sucked because it sucked.
Mmm why would it be any better just because it didn't happen??? People need to grow up and stop associating whatever they want with real world drama.
This is a provocative cover for a violent game. It fits and shows what kind of drama we will experience playing this title. Don't like the cover? Well you won't like the game either so just don't play it.
We kind of need this to define the title before buying. If we had Rainbow Dash on the cover instead I am pretty sure some small kid would have one hell of a surprise after installing it XD

The dude on the cover is not white? Could've fooled me. Anyway, he screams villainy, being racist just gives another reason why he's a bad guy.
Hey world I think he meant if the two ppl were in opposite places but that was just how I interpreteded it
That's how I interpreted it as well, hence my clarification of why that wouldn't be an image tinged with subtle racism.
I didn't even realize that the guy in the foreground had darker skin. I still can't convince myself that his skin is darker in the picture above. I don't know.
People are always on the Internet screaming about something. I understand the outrage if something is blatantly offensive. But it seems if you do anything that can be remotely perceived as intolerant you are seen as some sort of bigot in the eyes of certain individuals.
It's like they feel empowered by turning the media against others to pressure them into changing and apologizing.
/rant over
i just saw a dude with an RPG and another dude sitting below him i didn't see any of that until it was explained but i still don't really understand and i looks like a prisoner not a slave but whatever idk…
happy gaming =)
This kind of shit just proves how far away this world is from true equality.
When we can't even look at an image of a white(looking) guy treating a black guy badly without immediately resulting to racism….
When I looked at the box art, I seen "Far Cry 4", and that is all I seen. I never even looked at the guy and thought "wow, he is black" for 2 reasons:
1) I am not a total f**king moron who decides to ruin things for everyone else by pulling the race card.
2) Because the guy isn't black/brown. He is asian.
I DID notice that the guy was asian, because I was looking at the image to see what hints there were about the story, and the way the white(?) guy was holding his hand on the asian dudes head like that made me think that this guy, a rich drug lord probably, has come into Kryat and oppressed the locals and is making them work for him. Since this is based in asia, that made sense. But not ever once did I think "wow that is racist".

I didn't even see that much.
I believe thosue guys who thinks that this asian guy with bloneded hair is a caucasian, then they need some pair of glasses.
That guy is supposed to be asian?
People thought that was the player?
morons at there finest
the first thing i thought was that box art looks like it's for another shooter game and then i thought the box art doesn't catch my eye cause i personally don't like the art style
the artwork shows no hints of racism
If I were Ubisoft I'd make the most racist box art I could come up with, and give those bitches a reason to complain.
Then they'd do everything they can to make sure your game get blocked.
Bunch of idiots they are.

Racism here, racism there.
Like Knightzane said, if it was the other way round, no one would complain.
Reminds me of RE5 where killing infected African in Africa is racism.
I forgot about that and never really realized it lol
Ya , calling that racism was funny as hell to me .
As far as we know, we are all pink on the inside.
Humans tend to want to categorize things too much…
Evil – Good
Black – White
Light – Dark
Why people don't see these things in movies? Sh*t let's look at Ironman 1… a white man going into the middle east to save them from their own people… PROPAGANDA
honestly looking at it he doesnt look black and he doesnt look white, im african american and i dont see anything wrong with this its a "GAME" and i dont see why people take these things so serious…
make all the fuckin character's green and short, then let them complain about racism towards aliens…..fuckin idiot society
That would be extra terrestrialist. Horrible
I guarantee if it was a dark skinned guy with his hand on a white dude those same people would nt say a word .
What are you a racist?" Airport Security Guard: "Racist? Dude, I'm black." Harold: "He's black. He's not racist." Kumar: "Please, dude, you're barely even brown."
