All sorts of news from Konami today, including the price drop announcement for the next-gen physical retail versions of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes .
The publisher also revealed more incentives: If you pick up the aforementioned prelude, you'll receive exclusive downloadable content for The Phantom Pain .
This DLC gives players extra resources for a Mother Base area in the game. This section will be introduced in Ground Zeroes but will play a much bigger role in the full experience, which may not release until next year. Better act fast if you want this DLC, though; it's only available in Ground Zeroes retail copies for a "limited period."
We don't have any specifics about this content, but Konami said players who have it will have the "edge" over those who don't. No telling if the DLC will be available to purchase separately, either. Furthermore, Konami announced that if you purchase Ground Zeroes , you'll unlock exclusive content that will carry over to The Phantom Pain . For instance, POWs and VIPs rescued in Ground Zeroes will appear in The Phantom Pain as Mother Base staff.
See? Plenty of reasons to buy and play the introduction!

In other words, you have to buy this to get your full game experience.
I feel the same way. It kind of saddens me that MGS is going this direction. I remember playing MGS1 and having to beat the game numerous times for the different incentives. I'm not really into this extra content because you payed more or bought something others didn't.
::sigh:: here we go again…
In my experience, very limited isn't limited at all.
i love the mgs story so i am buying it but come on now they are trying to give u silly reasons to buy it xD
I'm always skeptical when they jam a game full of "incentives". Lightning Returns had a LOT.
Sounds like more incentive for me to wait for the ps4 uber edition that includes everything and if it never happens, then I can still get whatever is available at some point.
I'll be buying these either way. But I sure could go for that PS4/Ground Zeros Japan bundle.
What does it mean by giving players the "edge"? The Phantom Pain isn't an MMO, although it will have an Metal Gear Online supplement. Don't suppose it implies that your SP Mother Base will tie into that somehow? That could actually be really interesting and innovative. I'm now intrigued.
It does sound like an MP thing
Not sure if you played Peace Walker but from what I understand is similar to that in regard to the motherbase and MP element of that. If so, then adding recruits and placing them in the most beneficial department will be key
The only incentive I need to buy this is that it's MGS.
