Ben-DutkaSquare Enix has admitted that the disastrous Final Fantasy XIV launch has damaged the franchise's good name.
But they continue to make strides to fix the problems and now, Square Enix has given MMORPG fans an important update .
Producer and director Naoki Yoshida said the title's free trial run will finally end between late November and early December. So here comes the standard subscription fees. But at least players didn't have to pay while Square Enix went to work on the seriously broken title, so maybe gamers should at least be thankful for that little nugget.
Furthermore, it was revealed that the PlayStation 3 version now has a new release window: "between October and December of 2012." That's right, FFXIV just became a holiday 2012 title and when it arrives, they'll start a "second free trial period." After the PS3 launch, Square Enix intends to revamp in-game maps, switch to a new client and new servers, and give PC players new software (don't worry, it'll be free).
