Sony: Move Has Shipped 8.3 Million

The PlayStation Move still lacks a definite killer app, although shooter fans say the Sharpshooter accessory is pretty damn nifty.

During a GDC Online keynote address focusing on the PlayStation Move, SCEA developer support engineer Gabe Ahn confirmed that Move has shipped more than 8.3 million units worldwide. Sony also added that 80 games currently on store shelves boast Move support, and that number will unsurprisingly expand. The company also wanted to reinforce the diversity of such games; they range from EyePet to Killzone 3 and just about everything in between.

Ahn lastly wanted the audience to know that Move is not only diverse, but it also seems to work very well for most any control application. We've found it to be a little touchy but then again, that's part of the extreme sensitivity and accuracy of the device. We're still looking forward to games like Sorcery , which might entice a new wave of interested gamers.

I still haven't really found a good fps game that integrates the move to my liking. How do you get it to really function 1:1?

80 games is a lot, but I wish there was better integration in a lot of the games. Sports Champions is still the best one I own in terms of functionality imo. As of now, my psmoves haven't been used for a long time. Then again, I've always really been playing GT.

Yeah, Sports Champions really has been the best game for the Move so far, followed closely by Hustle Kings and High Velocity Bowling in terms of Move integration.

I also enjoyed Tumbler quite a bit, and am having fun with LittleBigPlanet 2's new Move functionality.

Haven't tried the SharpShooter yet, so can't comment on that.

Looking forward to Medieval Moves – the next game from the guys who made Sports Champions

Still, Move doesn't have many good games that are extremely interactive as kinect does. I mean you are up and moving on kinect and move is clos eto wii where there is very limited movement. I like move better however since it fits my play style more then kinect ever will. KILLZONE 3 FTW for move!!!

Sports Champions is excellent. Definately a hit with the parents and my kids.

I love the table tennis and boche personally. Cracking party game (alongside Singstar and Buzz TV).

Killzone 3 was good with the move. Heavy Rain not so much for some reason. I was more comfortable with the controller.

Want to pick up Child of Eden but that is about it for the Move in my household.

I'm kind of curious as to what they mean by shipping 8 million. Is that 8 million…eye-toy + joystiq + motion controller together? 8 million motion controller + eyetoy? 8 million…motion controllers?

Does anyone have an idea? Either way this is still pretty good.

Although I'll be quite honest, besides using it occasionally shooter games…I think I shall stick with the wonderful DualShock controller.

This entire Move thing reminds me of the song "57 Channels (And Nothin' On)" by Bruce Springsteen.

Yep, Sorcery is by far the most interesting-looking Move game they've shown. It's a little bit weird/worrying they didn't show anything of the game in the last two big tradeshows despite a lot of talk about the Move.

Maybe they just haven't gotten that far along in development so we'll hopefully hear more about it next year…

I still mostly don't care much about motion controls…if I did, I woulda gotten a Wii some time ago. That said, I do find Move at least somewhat more enticing than the other options. I should also maybe make the disclaimer that I still prefer using a keyboard and mouse for FPS games. 🙂

No Sorcery, No Move. After that, maybe I could buy a fps to try it on.

Btw, I am playing Killzone 3 right now and wow, the game is a blast!

Who's two of those 8.3 million??????……..

…….YEAH, THIS GUY"

Well, even while being the oldest PSXEextreme'r here, I was one of the very few that was 100+% all for Sony's motion sensor on the very, very, 1st day it was even first announced(and still was as un-named as _______ is to this very day) when I had first christened it as a "Sonymote"(Ha, I may be a bit biased but I'm STILL liking my original name better, LOL).

Now, I haven't had the chance to sit down & spend a whole marathon's worth of time lately like I really want to by trying out every single "Move-only" game demo's that's out so far, but I "HAVE" already D/L'ed every single one of them & they're all lined up in my XMB's games list, just a-sitting & a-waiting me to try them all out.

And even though I haven't played anything Move-wise at all yet, I have whole-heartedly supported the Move by buying the whole 320GB Move bundled PS3 slim(as pictured above), a 2nd set of Move & Nav controllers, the game's, Eyepet, Playstation Heroes, The Fight:Lights Out, Start The Party, The Shoot, & TV Superstars, and the Sharpshooter gun too.
(FYI, I not only needed them for my collection, I actually "wanted" them too, so I made sure I bought everything "brand spanking new" in order to help support Sony's Move program and any upcoming Move R&D.)

And besides that, I've even helped the aftermarket company's keep the Move alive too, by buying Nyko's SkillShot assault rifle, numerous other guns & pistols, charger set-ups, and various other Move-able related do-dads & trinkets(Ah yes….Hong Kong's gaming economy has been on a first-name basis with my wallet for quite some time now).

Oh, and I'm still eagerly(and quite impatiently) awaiting the release launch for the aftermarket Move Flex-Fire too.

We all marvel at your collection but a little part of me would be worried for the firemen's health if they were trying to put out a fire in your house.

Some of that huge collection of plastic would be seriously toxic!

I hope you have it all in a sealed fallout bunker…
