Dead Space 3 Brings About Some Changes For Isaac

The game has yet to be officially unveiled, but that hasn't stopped the baseline info and rumors from spreading.

The first details seem to be accurate, but it has generated all sorts of new questions. One of them involves the protagonist, Isaac Clarke: how'd he get to the planet of Tau Volantis after the events of Dead Space 2 ?

Well, according to Siliconera , Isaac is sent on a mission to rescue a woman on Tau Volantis and bring her back to Mars. Strangely, there's a warrant out for Isaac's arrest; EarthGov wants him for some reason, so he accepts the mission to get away from the authorities. And apparently, Ellie goes with him. Now, here come some potential spoilers…

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

So it seems that Isaac has a split personality in the new adventure, as "Shadow Isaac" taunts the "normal Isaac" at every turn. This shadow will ridicule him for doing something stupid and evidently, the two sides of Isaac will continue to bicker throughout the game. How "Shadow Isaac" plays into the overall story arc, we don't know. But won't it be interesting to find out?

Can't wait for Dead Space 3 .

For some reason the first thought that came to mind was Shadow Scott from the Scott Pilgrim series…..

Anyways that seems like an intriguing mechanic. I loved the hallucination moments in Dead Space 2, despite their minor implementations. Dead Space 2 might have been more actiony than the first, but it was still so much fun and it was much harder to survive.

Awesome, i hope they'll get rid of MP, it was pretty crappy on DS2

I agree about the multiplayer, it was trash. Multiplayer in a horror game just does not work imo, it would be like putting capture the flag or team deathmatch in a Silent Hill game.

Can you imagine that sh!t? Pyramid Head running around on the same team as Heather Mason & tag teaming a rotten nurse?

As long as they don't change the story to use the overused cliche that "Shadow Isaac" was behind all evil doing.

Hmm…. Sounds kinda ridiculous. Everything seemed set to tie up with DS3 following the second game, and now this information just throws that out of whack. Never mind that it would be better were Isaac (and the player) to merely hear voices, rather than see a physical manifestation of his growing madness.

So far as I'm concerned, this choice only cements Dead Space as being a a action horror game with poorly handled horror elements. Just my opinion of course.

No, nothing seemed ready to tie up in DS3. This, if anything, is gonna be like the Alien franchise. They'll prolong it for as long as they can.

Personally, I think that if they keep mixing it up like they've been doing then I'll be fine with that.

Edit: Btw, they've already done voices. It'd be kind of repetitive to keep hearing voices when we've been hearing them since the 1st one.

SPOILERS!!!

Maybe it was just me then, but I figured that Isaac and Ellie were off to take the fight to EarthGov and destroying the original marker on Earth.

But the post-credits audio snippet does mention, what, ten other Marker sites? So I suppose that it makes sense to continue it, with Isaac destroying one of them after the other… I can only see tedium ensuing after too many iterations following the same path though.

As for voices, when did Isaac ever hear voices? I remember plenty of visions of Nicole, and occasionally she would speak to him, but I don't recall random voices popping into his head, demanding him to do something, or just nagging away at him, which is what I'd rather see than Shadow Isaac. We've seen visions since the first one. A different shape to them doesn't really change the idea. Just sayin'

I heard the next Dead Space was going to be set on a snowy planet? Memories of The Thing are coming back to me.

Day one buy for me this is. It's horror, it's Dead Space 3, it's mine.

Can't wait to hear more, already smitten for it.

That sounds pretty insane, literally. I thought after DS2 Isaac couldn't get any more insane; of course, Visceral proves me wrong again.

Anyways, this sounds excellent so far. I'm loving the setting, the story, and this split personality deal. And since the setting's so different from the last 2, they could really mix it up and bring us new kinds of scares.

The only thing I'm wondering right now is who's sending Isaac on this mission? But I guess answers will come in time.

sounds awesome so far, but i wish visceral would do a dantes inferno 2 first!
we have so few hack and slash action games, and even fewer good ones!
we have even fewer ones set in such unique cool places, and theres so much they could do for the sequel!
i love dead space as much as the next guy, if not more!
but please visceral give us a dantes inferno sequel first!
