Final Fantasy XIII-2 will hit store shelves on January 31 in North America, so it's time to pre-order.
But where? Well, Square Enix has revealed pre-order incentives for three major retailers today and you can take your pick. If you've been living under a rock on Mars, FFXIII-2 is the sequel to Final Fantasy XIII , which launched in March of 2010 in the US and ended up shipping 6.2 million units worldwide.
Here are the pre-order bonuses:
GameStop: Exclusive in-game item; an alternate costume for Serah, visible throughout the game.
Amazon: Omega Boss Battle; a unique coliseum battle against boss "Omega," who joins the player's party afterward.
Best Buy: Collectible Hardcore Book; FFXIII Episode I novella, an original story that ties together the events of Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 .
Remember, these incentives are exclusive to North America, so Square Enix will probably implement different bonuses for different regions. But the question is, will you be pre-ordering? Or is this another one of those wait-and-see situations? …or has FFXIII soured you on the whole idea?
Related Game(s): Final Fantasy XIII-2
What makes this so tough is the FF collector in me. But I just can't bring myself to pre-order this game. I'm waiting. Still… would love to have that Omega addition…
Yeah, but no. I'm getting this one on the cheap. I can wait. Lots to tide me over. I'm not even chomping at the bit, oddly enough, like I have for every other FF game released on Playstation consoles.

Sorry, you couldn't give me a hundred dollars and a six pack of IPA to get me to preorder this game let alone play it.
And how dare they taint an Omega boss battle with this game. Greatest Omega fights ever are in Final Fantasy VII and VIII. Oh how this series has gone down hill.
I don't remember Omega in VII…I thought he was only in VIII.
He (it) was definitely in 7 as well.
Nope. Ultima Weapon was in 7, not Omega.

Ah, never mind then. xD
Yes and no. I'm pretty sure there are 5 weapons in FF7. Diamond is manditory to fight in the story. Ruby and Emerald are optional. Ultima is manditory to challenge (but optional to defeat). And Omega weapon (I believe) has his head blown off by Jeuno's cannon.
The one that get's it's head blown off is Saphire weapon, not Omega. In the PSX era Omega appeared only in VIII and X
Really? I don't even recall anything being called Saphire… Not that I don't believe you! I'd just like to know at what point the game tells you it's Saphire. I muzts know all!!
Well, all I know is you never fight an Omega Weapon in VII. I remember him well from VIII, though. Of course, he had to go down. 🙂
Actually, It seems I was wrong… according to the caves of narshe site:
"they are named WEAPON (sometimes called Sapphire Weapon based on color, but this is never given as an official name), Diamond Weapon, Ruby Weapon, Emerald Weapon and Ultimate Weapon."
So I guess I got the Sapphire on the gamefaqs forums, but It's not called Omega either…
Omega Weapon was part of the Dirge of Cerberus storyline
the omega weapon serves as a vessel to carry the lifestream to a different planet, should a global catastrophe occur
so while it isn't in FFVII per se, it is part of the VII universe
Ah, yes! Quark is exactly right. Nicely done, sir.
Darxed, it seems Saphire may not have been the "official" name, but it is far more accurate than simply calling it "weapon". Since there are 5….
I'm happy with Saphire. It's possible it was called that in the forums, etc. due to a Japanese translation, perhaps?

As far as I know, the only way we even know the names of the other weapons is because you can fight them, so you can see their names in the fight… since you can't fight Sapphire, then there is no official name…
Yes, you are all correct. My mistake. I was confusing Diamond Weapon with Omega.
Omega Weapon is in Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus.
well, the omega boss battle sounds the most appealing. i have fond memories of grinding may way through the omega ruins in ff10. the omega boss battle was pretty intense in that game. his flare and giga graviton attacks were brutal.
Preorder specials are one thing, but why the hell does there need to be bonuses given if you purchase from a certain retail? That doesn't make me want to get the game from them; quite the opposite actually.
Not so bad considering Amazon ususlly ends up having the best deals.
What do we do if we really want all three? 🙁

Buy the DLC off the PS Store later…sad, but true.
pre-order from all 3, buy & collect incentives then return the wal-mart and best buy version and keep the amazon one since its an online retailer BAM! all 3
Ugh I wish Sqaure hadn't jumped on the band wagon. I am looking forward to it, But all these monsters should be in the game…
I won't be pre-ordering it because i don't like what square enix did with XIII
Where can I get the invisible outfit?
It's an exclusive DLC pack to your dirty little head.
I wish I could get excited for this, but it ain't happening. The Omega Boss battle would've been my pick if I were pre-ordering. I'm waiting for reviews before buying another Final Fantasy game with a number thirteen on it.
Sad thing is the Omega boss battle should have been in the game to begin with.
I most certainly agree with that Jawknee.
Rage!
Uncharted 3!
SKYYYYRIIIMMM!!!!
Those are the only pre orders for me.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but this is the first Final Fantasy I won't be getting at all (not including the online ones and FF X-2)
I still haven't finished FF XIII yet, in fact, I've only ever finished FF VII!!! I got FF VIII, IX, X and XII as well, but never finished them!!!
But with the downfall of RPG elements in FInal Fantasy games, I'm afraid I've now moved on to Elder Scrolls, Demon's Souls, Mass Effect and Dragon Age for my current gen RPG fix. At least I can rely on the PS1 and SNES classics for my turn-based RPG fix.
Uh… even Final Fantasy XIII has more RPG elements than Mass Effect 2. >.>

Im definitely not getting it, but of the three incentives I would no doubt choose to preorder from Amazon. Hands down. Exclusive boss battle+additional character(or summon Im guessing)totally trumps skins, in game items, and IRL collectors items.
Wait a sec…an Omega boss battle should already come with it…automatically for everyone…its a staple of the series pretty much
meh, f*ck FF!
id rather hear more on the new remake they announced at TGS.
hopefully some past FFs will make it onto the PSN now that $ony have got some ps2 titles on there.
I really hope nobody buys this game to teach them a lesson.
huh?
Oh wait, I gotcha now. Just had to read it differently.
