Those participating in the Battlefield 3 multiplayer beta have spotted plenty of issues.
But that's the purpose of a beta; it's a test , after all. It's a chance for developers to fix glaring problems before the game arrives on store shelves, and DICE is already taking strides to fix common BF3 drawbacks.
If you check the updated Battlefield Blog , you can find a list of issues DICE has already fixed. Here are a few of the more significant repairs:
Click through the link to read the entire list of fixes, and remember to check the Blog for future repairs and updates. DICE isn't about to ignore the negative feedback and remember, they've got over three weeks to ensure a solid, stable multiplayer experience when Battlefield 3 hits on October 25. So don't overreact too much if you perceive a lot of problems with the beta.

BF3 is a strange beast to me, that took some time for me to get into.
Day 1 – I didn't like it.
Day 2 – Started to grow on me.
Now – I might not buy MW3.
This game is something special.

they only gave us one map to play, but i gotta say it's pretty fu**ing awesome how I can play it over and over.
I would be giving the game another chance. I didn't really like the beta because I didn't find it fun, but I would be trying the demo (hope they release one) to see if the quality of the game will be better.
The only game-breaking complaint I have is the lack of ability to mute players. You know how depressing it is to listen to someone's microphone left running broadcasting some utter crap rap music with other players screaming to "shut the f**king music up" for the entire game?
Same here. Hated it, day one, but by the end of day two…I'm like release this bad boy already. Yeah, specializing in one unit and upgrading your gun changes the whole dynmaic of the game. I though KZ3 beta was weak and the final game turned out weak, so here's to hoping a strong BF3 beta means a strong and competent game.
How come you all got a beta pass? Don't you have to have a key or something?`
BeamBoom: DICE released an open beta. Go grab it for yourself! 🙂
doppel is correct. just got the ps store and download the the beta. it's up right now on the u.s. ps store.
/facepalm
Oh man I thought it only was available for those who preordered some other game!!! So *that's* why you all are in that exclusive circle of beta testers! lol
Gonna give it a run tonight!

lol
No worries, Beamboom. I didn't know either.
I pretty confident that this game will be fine tuned by the time it releases. Unlike COD which doesn't patch anything for 6 months. I've been playing the beta and I'm not enjoying it that much. I don't think I like the map we play on and also does anyone notice that everything seems to have a blue tinge inside the subway?
Give it time. Specialize in one class, and then one gun. Once you have all your desired attachments on the weapon, things get interesting.
I can see that. I had to play
BFBC2 little by little until I got leveled up a little and then it was non stop from that point forward.
They need to fix the f'ing flashlights.
Whats wrong with the flashlights? They're supposed to do what the developers intended them to do, which is blind your opponents.
I like the flashlights but I also hate them. lol I had one team mate just staring at me with his flashlight and that thing is killer on the eye's, i thought i was going blind.
exactly, my opponents shouldn't be the ones spawning on me causing me to get blasted in the face from light, whether that's behind or in front of me. and what? shotgun sniping from across the map is another thing, it's going to get up getting nerfed probably but seriously. eh. oh well, beta's a beta.
Good to hear their working on fixing the beta. The more i play,(with fixes),the more i like it. Think i'll go ahead with my Pre-order now. Thanks for the info Ben.
I'm not sure if they will be fixing the bugs in the beta, rather in the full version. I could be wrong though.
Mr. Shepard wrote it 🙂
The problems I have on the Beta is the falling through the map glitches, god its getting annoying every ten feet(but this is usually only in the beginning of the game), I sink into the map. Another issue is how when i create a party, the party ends up going away and my friends would be on the other team, and the fact that sometimes you can't even hear your friends on the mic. They also need to fix the screen tearing and flashes, I swear, every second I'd be seeing blue and pink whenever I'm trying to kill someone. And lastly, the last M-Com station, now the reason why I get so pissed off when I'm trying to defend the Stations you get spawned camped like crazy! Your either getting killed by the people camping in the building overlooking the M-Com, or your getting killed by the people hiding in the bushes where you respawn. All in all, I am really having an absolute blast in this beta, I've been playing it non-stop, and already have my copy pre-ordered. They really need to address these Issues before the retail version comes out, because it would be a bit of bummer seeing such a game go down with lots of potential.
P.S. I think that they should work a bit on the textures, I wouldn't mind having to do an install when the retail version comes out, I just want to have the best experience possible, they should do an install similar to what the developers are doing with the game RAGE.

You hit it spot on when talking Rage. ID are revolutionizing mega-texturing. It is an interest technique where the whole map is essential one texture, and artists paint on that texture directly as if it were one canvas.
The texture is then streamed in as you play the games… It feels the ground is one and looks very good from what I have seen of it. I think Rage visually, will look better than BF3.
Besides the terrible bugs in the Beta, my dismay at the Metro level is the not so destructible environment. I don't know what has gone on here… but we are supposed to be able destroy pretty much most things.
In the city I can't knock out building walls like I did before in BF2?
::sigh::

i'm sure they will fix the bugs. what i don't expect is a huge graphical upgrade between now and when this game ships. i imagine the beta is close to what we will get in terms of graphics. at least on the mp side. if that is the case ea/dice will lose a lot of credibility. i notice none of those fixes address the screen tearing, ugly texture work, blocky shadows, and extenensive aliasing issues in this "amazing" frostbite 2.0 engine.
betas these days are there mainly for promotional purposes, and to test the back end of server demand. what they should never do is make gamers want to cancel their pre orders. that is exactly what is going on with this game. gamers expect there will be bugs but what they won't expect is a major upgrade in graphics in the short amount of time until this game ships.
yes i was a bit disapointed at the destruction aswell…but i hope it is only in beta and that in final game we should be able to blow up that enitre metro map.and hopefully defending team can blast seal the whole tunneland sacrifise the two mcom station and yet win….LOL
So there's a reason why I ended up with a personal score of 3-14(I have bad aims but it wasn't this bad with KZ2 and KZ3) on my first session?
And I thought this was the same as MW2 where you die easily.

they do?
so wheres our god dam caspian border!?
come on, i want to play battlefield not f*cking COD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
then they wonder why people have hacked the servers to support conquest modes, 64 and 128 player matches.
or even the script they wrote to disable the password protected servers!
Hell, I tried the beta yesterday, but man oh man, I got KIA every frigging single time I stepped 10 feet down into the subway. And not once did I see who was gunning me down(even after I started watching everywhere first with my scope.
After a half hour of constant dirt in my teeth, I finally said "That's enough.
It's a shame I never even got the chance to enjoy any part of only the 2nd MP I've ever tried(KZ3's the other), but I guess that's the breaks, so I promptly deleted the beta.
Oh well, I'm sure I'll enjoy playing my usual SP side of it.

Lol Saint, that was a quick and cheap thrill to say the least. I have gotten the hang of it, but the glitches are just sad!

It must be said though: The learning curve of online competitive gaming is steep and quite disencouraging at first.
It's not like in offline singleplayer where things gradually get tougher along a well calculated scheme – it's straight into the ring against a bunch of players who's got one plan only: To beat you at any cost.
You will not know what hit you the first times around. I've played Crysis 2 multiplayer quite some this spring and summer, and the first few hours I simply had no idea how they could be this good. I died, died, died, died and died. And then died some more. And notice, at this stage I've already beaten the single player campaign. I was no newcomer to Crysis 2 – it's just that mp is so insanely much harder to master. SP is like playing in slow motion in comparison.
Then, gradually… I managed to get some kills. Pure luck at first. But I learnt to use the suit more effective (that's a major part of what Crysis2 is all about). Started to know the controls by instinct. Started to know the maps. Managed to avoid enemies. Knew where I usually would meet them, and where I usually would be spotted. Started to build a strategy… And then… Then things started to be really, really fun. I found my nick well placed in the middle of the lists, with a good amount of kills, and already some totally awesome, memorable moments richer.
… Then Deus Ex came and took over all my gaming time. 😀
But just know: You *will* be seriously owned at first. This is totally normal. But you will also get better – trust me!
Just hang in there, and do not compare this to a single player experience – there are no babysitting whatsoever, no "tutorial maps". Now you are playing against the ultimate "AI": Humans. And they are out to get you. 😉

Qubex,
Yeah ya know…..all I wanted to do is stop into the subway platforms & hand out these Hari Krishna cards, but all those big meanies weren't having any part of it.
Beamboom, thanks for all the 411.
I kind of understood that since I'm not a normasl(as opposed to abnormal, LOL)MP mode player, I'd get owned time & time again, but hell, I thought that I'd get to see at least 1 enemy, or at the very least, get 1 single measly live round off, but…nooooooo.
LOL.
I'm not quite sure if was just because I just sucked, or it was due to unseen campers swamped out but I usually didn't get more then 10 steps into the subway before I sent right back to H E Double L, over & over & over again.
Or a bit of both.
****spoiler alert????****
The 1 & only time I was actually able to get any further inbound was when I followed a squad rushing in & went a side way through where all the overhead pipework was. Then we crossed over the tracks, down a hallway leading to a room.
Now, by this time I was being quite overly-cautious since I was now a bit shellshocked by now, due to have already been KIA over 35 time within seconds prior to this, so I gave my 6-7 guys about about a 5-yard lead ahead of me.
But when I turned the corner into the room after my guys, the the only thing I saw was… 1 enemy right straight smack dab up in my face & all I heard was 1 quick pop, & damned if I wasn't %$*%^&$^# KIA'ed again.
I haven't a clue to what happened to all my squad-mates that had just slightly ahead of me, they just completely disappeared altogether, with no firefight, or even any sounds of guns ablazing. It was like they just magically disappeared into the wall before the enemy saw them. So I don't know if they glitched away or what happened to them cause there's no way they could've passed by this one enemy.
But, I hate being a quitter, so I'm re-loading the beta right now to give it another try.
But I think that this time to give myself a better chance, I'll log on in the middle of the night, just in the hopes that most of the campers will already have retired to their pup-tents for the night.
But just to make sure I have an better play-through this time, I'll also be downing whole box of "LUCKY" Charms first.

*WHOOSH*
That's the sound of my BC2 disc frisbeeing out the window, and also the reason that DICE would have to pay me to buy BF3. I'll get around to a review sooner or later to further explain this post.
Seems a little excessive…
It's not… game frustrated the ever-loving hell out of me.
I am loving it so far lol. Did any of you get *UNDER* the ground (glitch)?
The funny part was that while being under the floor in the vast space of nothingness… I could shoot and kill people from… the floor lollll Super surprise attack!
But the controls are pretty tight and the maps are pretty awesome.
Some people complain about having trouble differencing enemies and allies… But all your allies have this little green/blue arrow on their heads so… I don't know so far I didn't get any trouble with it. No arrow = GUN IT TILL IT IMPLODES

Everyone is taking advantage of going into prone mode and sinking beneath the map. They'll just be waiting like that by the first comm stations killing players from under the ground. Graphics are a huge let down, the map for this beta sucks….no vehicles, no destructible enviroments. So far BFBC2 has this game beat. The beta for that one had everything it needed. I hope they address all these issues quick. I think MW3 will have better graphics over all. So much for dethroning Activision. Oh, and there's no mute and no way of exiting a match between rounds…you're forced to wait until the match starts if you want to quit to the main menu.
BF3 isn't the type of game I normally play, but I like BC2 and I like the BF3 beta so I hope things come together for the release. I'll be interested to see how it turns out.

fine…..
What are those thumbs for???
I am so upset with Dice. Their hype is now taking it's toll. I was so looking forward to this game. Their beta can't even compare with other fps multi like Crysis 2 on consoles and even the upcoming MW3 (which now looks better to me in their trailers compared to the BF3 console beta). I was betting on BF3, now I'm more likely to buy MW3 instead.
2 things:
1) just be careful about letting a BETA set your tone. I've seen countless BETA's sometimes not even having the same visual quality with the release. I'd reserve judgement for the release.
2) MW3 gameplay trailers, that I've seen, are still prerendered and scripted. I wouldn't be surprised to see a dip in quality from trailer to game.
I really hope you are right and it turns out to be a great game at the end.
There are some things you know you love to be wrong about.
I had that experience with Deus Ex, for a more recent example. I thought it'd suck.
Boy am I glad I was wrong!!!
Honestly, the more I play it the more I like it (minus all the bugs and glitches but that's a given). Game looks really good, and the final retail version will be even better.
Too funny. I love when people compare a finished game (BFBC 2) to a beta. It just makes so much sense. LOL. I just want to know… Does anyone understand why they hype the game in question? Marketing, plain and simple. When you have a game like COD that has so many avid players, you need to spark a fire. Maybe capture some of that crowd or alot of that crowd. Why aren't people freaking out when Activision pulls this same type of thing. I'm guessing the reason they aren't now is because they are the front runner. At least EA are hyping about a new game with lots of change. Activision hypes the crap out of their game and it's the same every year!!! Like it or not its a competitive world. If you were going up against the title of "Greatest selling piece of entertainment ever" what would you do to compete?
The problem DJ, is that the BF3 Beta is so poor, it is more like an Alpha test release, just to see if the console doesn't crash on running the executable.
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
100% agreed And at least they're addressing the glitches.
Have any of you guys gotten the Uncharted 3 MP from the Subway promotion? You can pretty much play the entire MP portion of the game a month before it releases. Some of the maps are completely amazing, too!
am love the beta an can't wate for the full game, but i must say i would have like some more weapons i hope they bring out weapon dlc and more spectac shins . but all and all if the beta is this much fun ,wow what the full game would be like . ps some of the weapons design could have been better i miss my bad company 416 design the guns look odd with red dot scopes/ sites and no iron sites on the weapon eg the 416/the fn scar and so on
I have yet to try this will be turning ps3 on just to update this one.

a lot of people getting into the game get easily annoyed and frustrated , about 6 days ago i logged in and heard this kid yelling "omg! i'm dead!…what the fuck!…why is this so hard!….fucking flash light!" then he started having a conversation with the other squad mate about how mw and black ops is easier for them. then i was like …"alright kids! lets play like a team , i'll provide aid, you ammo and we watch each others back and let each other know when an enemy comes by so we can push ourselves to the point" …tsk tsk… this game requires team chemistry . you can use the flash light to blind snipers and enemies running towards you, so it plays in favor. i have fun when i see squadmates responding in this manner , even without voice communication.
I just hope they fix the texture issues. at times there are texture streaming and if you're running it will give you a vertigo view and push you a bit back behind lag , sometimes when i run through a hole or crawl , the texture breaks and makes me fall into the void of horribleness.
i seriously think they should try and fix the texture issue so we can test on the beta and make sure we're done with it and get on with the damn game, cause i want it!
