Still No Skyrim DLC For PS3 Owners

PS3 players already had to bear with a game-destroying glitch in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim . On top of which, they haven't received any downloadable content to date.

Bethesda has said in the past that they're working with Sony to resolve the ongoing issues, so some fans of last year's epic RPG were hopeful that DLC news would arrive soon.

But unfortunately, Bethesda still has nothing to report. Vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines took to Twitter earlier today to deliver the disappointing non-update:

"I don't have any info on Hearthfire, Dawnguard, or DLC in general for PS3. We're still on it. Will share update when I have one."

By the time it ever happens, PS3 owners will have likely moved on to something else. For instance, we get Dishonored next week, and we've got a busy fall, too. It's too bad that this happened but at this rate, even the bitterest of the fans are bound to simply ignore the problems Bethesda has with Sony's machine and focus on new stuff. And I don't blame them one bit. Might as well just dismiss crappy support.

But can we honestly say it's Bethesda's fault? we can speculate until we're blue, yet we aren't entirely on the inside here. But…knowing my luck, yeah…it IS Bethesda's fault…damn.

Who really cares anymore except to say damn them for jerking PS3 owners around.

They should PROBABLY fix the game breaking issues FIRST! But I'm guessing the broken way they coded for PS3 just can't be fixed with a patch.

Have a right mind to snap my ps3 disc in half and send it to Bethesda's offices with a note that reads "Just returning this in the condition I bought it in. I would ask for my money back, but you probably need that for more programmers".

@fatelementality
Well THAT would certainly send a message, and may be not a very bad idea. Perhaps if many PS3 owners of most of their games did this it would hopefully send that point across.

It's a shame too the only game I still have that is developed by Bethesda is Oblivion which seems to run at a decently smoothly. I was very interested in FallOut 3 and wanted to get the GotY Edition (even am slightly tempted when I see it for $20 or less), but am dissuaded by the amount of bugs. This isn't to even mention FO:New Vegas and Skyrim. It's no wonder it leaves many gamers feeling burned and disregarded. Thinking of all the wonderful reviews to the aforementioned games as well as those VGA Awards among others for Skyrim last year, personally also adds a bit of salt to those wounds.

Therefor as a result Bethesda (as the devs anyway) aren't likely to see a dime from me nor am I likely to own FO3, FO:NV or Skyrim, with this BALDERDASH/MALARKY! Sidenote: Hey anyone own or ever play those board games before? I've got Balderdash. 🙂

Good one fatlementality. H8WL3R is also right. All the awards did poor salt in the wound when we got the most broken and inferior version of Skyrim. The game is getting all kinds of awards while Bethesda implemented an embargo on sending out the PS3 version to critics and the internet is ablaze with all the problems PS3 owners had to deal with. OUCH!! Thanks Bethesda! How they got away with that unscathed is unbelievable. I guess they can because NA is so 360 centric. If 360 owners got the shaft like we do they would scream bloody murder and something would be done about it!!!

I have my own special award for Bethesda. It's called the bird trophy. Any guesses what it looks like?

I'm not interested in any of their DLC that's for damn sure. Why bother with it. I say keep it and focus on the only fans you know how to please. If they cared about PS3 owners, their problems would've been resolved long before the release of Skyrim.

Are those guys even doing their job properly?

The big question and hurdle for them is: how do you put out DLC for people mired in a broken campaign that works?

hehe. That's probably exactly why we have not seen it! They tried and the PS3's they had exploded. I heard they lost the one part time guy they had in the basement that tested for bugs on the PS3 in the accident:).

I can't think of too many developers that could pull a stunt like this and survive it.

I love these guys, I love their games, I love Fallout, I loved Skyrim at the time, but this is embarrassing… for them.

I traded Skyrim a long time ago in the view of getting it again for the DLC, but I doubt I will do that now, and I assume I wont be alone.

well there wont be any excuses with the PS4, well there shouldn't be.

Regardless of the internal architecture let's very hope NOT. Really, I hope Sony's next piece of hardware is again, arguably potentially the most advanced and capable console. I really hope it's a technical marvel, certainly on the console side, and in general, that boasts top notch productions years well into the cycle. I also hope by then every developer will have the proficiency or will be able to get the required help to gain it. Please let the PlayStation be the lead console (which proved successful for Burnout Paradise no?) or if need be get separate teams of coders for each respective version. I hope the powers that be make it so.

Good old Bethesda. Still can't code properly for the PS3! God it's so infuriating to be treated like a second class citizen. What really sucks is their games are great from a game design stand point…but their technical execution with the PS3 is flawed. Their games just don't want to run right on the PS3 and that dates all the way back to Fallout 3. The DLC in the game of the year version is damn near unplayable! Broken Steel is freaking broken with constant freezes and framerates that are atrocious. Nearly unplayable!!

Then we get to Skyrim which shipped freaking broken for us. To top that off Bethesda refused to send the PS3 version out to reviewers. This very site got a 360 disc instead of the inferior PS3 version. Hmm…I wonder why that was the case. I can think of no more of a damning move by Bethesda than to have some kind embargo on sending out the PS3 version to reviewers. The minute I heard that was going on I knew something was wrong and was proven right! The damn PS3 version shipped broken!

i played the hell out of skyrim and even got the platinum for it. never really got any of the bugs that people complained about. lets just say that with all this crap im glad i never bought the game. only money i spent on skyrim was to my local library to rent the game (late fees) which was about $7. might not have even been that much. id consider buying the game used if they did the dlc. but i would probably not care and be playing something else.

It must be one damned sorry state of affairs for Bethesda when Sony's own support crew is helping them out & yet…..

Bethesda still can't get anything right that they've made for the PS3.

Why?,

Arkane Studio's making it, not Bethesda.

So I'd at least give them a chance.

I love the few who defend Bethesda. They do not know how to program for the PS3 properly, bottom-line. Skyrim was broken until its fourth patch and nearly unplayable if you reach the 100 hour mark and your save file exceeded 7000k. This is the same problem Fallout 3 had. It's the same one Fallout 3:NV had(no it wasn't deved by them, but Obsidian programs using their exact F3 engine…their non-optimized engine).

Bottom line is this company was a pc company and always had horribly buggy releases from Arena, to Daggerfal, to Battlespire and beyond. They've *never* released a 100% playable game without game ending glitches. I know this. I was playing their rpgs before most of you were even able to hold a controller.

The 360 is a windows OS based system and it's easy for them to program around the lack of memory and stuff because they have done it for years. While it's still not perfect on those systems, they had no experience with Sony's hardware before this gen. Many devs exclusive to Sony comment on how difficult it once was to develop for the console before they learned to optimize things.

Bethesda has never been one to "perfect" anything. They halfarse everything they make and, much like Microsoft and their OS releases, release half-finished products.

If it weren't for the fact the design of their games is nearly unparreled fans wouldn't let it fly. As it is, they make great games…just not ones that work.

Wachazoa: It will be different because it's only published by Bethesda, not made by them. The problem with Bethesda releases is their own technology/engines/programmers. This doesn't affect third party games they publish.
