We're greatly anticipating Tekken 6 for the PlayStation 3, and if it's a landmark achievement like its predecessor, you readers may eventually say the sixth installment will be the best of the current generation.
As is, you say Tekken 5 is certainly the best fighter of the last generation, as it easily wins the Gold medal in the Best PS2 Fighter Poll, outstripping WWE SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain and Soul Calibur III on its way to victory. There's no doubt that fans of the Tekken series adored the fifth entry, primarily because it once again took another step towards one-on-one battling greatness. In fact, you probably know several gamers who went out of their way to hold Tekken 5 parties and competitions; a whole lot of people really gravitated to this game. What can you really complain about? The visuals? Physics? Character selection? Overall gameplay? Nah, none of that is really subject to too much negative scrutiny. So here are the final standings:
Gold Medal: Tekken 5
Silver Medal: WWE SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain
Bronze Medal: Soul Calibur III
So the best PS2 fighter has been determined, and we move on to the Best Sports/Racing PS2 game, and the poll is up now. We figure it's going to be an interesting showdown between some of the better football installments and the likes of Gran Turismo 4 . Then again, another title might take us completely by surprise; maybe there are a lot of Wipeout Fusion fans out there, or perhaps a whole lot of PS2 owners remember the glory days of the original SSX …that one made a big splash at launch. Let's find out!
