It was one of the best games of 2006, raking in plenty of design, art, and overall awards at the end of the year. It was the PS2's very unique Okami and fans of the stellar title are all clamoring for a sequel. But according to Kotaku, while that is a definite possibility, Okami 2 is not a foregone conclusion.
Devil May Cry creator and Okami designer, Hideki Kamiya, has said that he very much wants to do a sequel. Evidently, he has made this very clear numerous times. But unfortunately for all the new fans out there, it's really not his decision to make simply because it's Capcom/Clover game. Remember, Clover is no more (the members have dissipated, and some have moved on to form another development studio, SEED). On this note, by the way, Kamiya wanted to clarify that Clover's demise had nothing to do with the lackluster sales of Okami .
Well, at least we know he wants to do it, and provided he gets the the right people to agree, we can expect Okami 2 at some point. When that happens, and if details concerning platform destination are confirmed, we'll be sure to let you know.
