A game can't last forever online, right? Even the most popular must soon disappear from the Network, but perhaps some fans would've hoped to see this one last a bit longer. Konami has issued a brief warning that will likely bring a collective groan of disappointment from all MGS fans:

"The last day of online service for Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence in North America will be April 2nd. Konami sincerely thanks all of the Subsistence online community for their dedication to the game and support of the Metal Gear Solid series."

Included in this notice was a big ol' PR plug for the recently released Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops for the PSP, so it seems Konami is looking to the future. After all, MGS fans can always get their online fix with Portable Ops , thanks to the game's multiplayer modes, but somehow, it's just not the same… Heck, some gamers were just starting to get into MGS 3 online, and now they're yanking the rug out from under them!

But you do have a voice. There is something you can do, if you so choose. Sign the petition and hope for a miracle. In the meantime, go ahead and ratchet up your anticipation for MGS 4 a few notches.
