Well, it's not exactly an earth-shattering announcement, but then again, this is the Tales Channel, after all. Occasionally, they like to stir things up with rumor and speculation that doesn't really become a "Megaton" unveiling.
Bandai Namco announced last week they were bringing a new Tales game to the PSP, and they were about to reveal the details on yet another installment in the series. We were hoping for a PS3 RPG, but as it turns out, the game is only for the PS2, and worse, it might not ever see the world beyond Japanese borders. Several magazines in Japan leaked the identity of the game today.
It's called Tales of Fandom Vol. 2 , which is, of course, a sequel to the 2002 PS1 game, Tales of Fandom Vol. 1 . Essentially, these titles are exactly what they sound like: a little reward for avid fans of the series. In this second Fandom , they're including characters from three different Tales games for a collage of four text-heavy adventures. The developers are also working to present fresh new character illustrations and new voice recordings.
So unfortunately, it's not their first attempt at a next-gen RPG, but at least we know what it is now. Tales of Fandom Vol. 2 is scheduled to release in Japan some time this summer.
