Though many critics complained of an incoherent plot and some acting issues, that couldn't keep the visually-intensive adaptation of the popular video game series down. Taking the Number 1 spot for the past weekend and making over $20 million, Silent Hill proved its pull over moviegoers. The film is also considered to be the best game-to-movie translation yet, staying very close to the source material. It takes a stab at the deep psychological issues the series is known for while hinting and playfully nudging at gameplay conventions.
Director Cristophe Gans currently plans to make a sequel.
