2006 AIAS Interactive Achievement Awards

Last night in Las Vegas, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) held its 9th annual Interactive Achievement Awards. This year's event was a gala affair, featuring a red carpet, celebrity presenters, and comedian Jay Mohr as host.

Sony took home accolades in numerous marquee categories, including Game of the Year, Console Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievment (Art Direction). Also winning big was Red Octane, for its smash-hit music game, Guitar Hero.

The Interactive Achievement Awards have been presented annually since 1998. The awards are determined by a vote of qualified Academy members. Next year's awards will be televised as part of a new agreement made with Dick Clark Productions, which handles such ceremonies as the Golden Globes and Daytime Emmy Awards.
