Remember way back when, sometime in 2001, when Capcom announced that all future installments in the Resident Evil franchise would be exclusive to the Nintendo GameCube?

Scratch that.

Capcom released a statement today announcing that Resident Evil 4, which is still coming to the GameCube in January, will also be released for the PlayStation 2 sometime later in 2005.

The company's official line is that the decision to release RE4 on the PS2 came about based on requests from fans. Unofficially, we bet the fact that the PS2 release of Viewtiful Joe outsold the GameCube version (even though it came out a year later) had something to do with it.
