No, your eyes are not playing tricks are you. You're [likely]
not drunk. And that's most certainly not a typo. For the week of
February 19-25, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd did indeed sell over
700k games for its debut. We've reported numerous times about the
pre-orders for MHP2nd being some of the highest for a portable game, and
as you can see that was no hyperbole. Capcom's franchise has
gained an incredible following on both the PS2 and PSP, but it's
still quite surprising to see such momentum. In any case,
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, the game based on the anime, debuted
at second place with 80k sold reported.

The Nintendo Wii's debut RPG Fire Emblem managed to rack in a
very respectable 75k copies. And it looks like Wii Play will be
hitting that one million mark within a week or two. Overall, a
pretty solid week, with most game sales over the 40k mark. Next
week's game to watch out for is Gundam Musou for the PS3; it's
going to be interesting to see how that debuts and if it affects
PS3 sales. Stay posted for the hardware numbers.
