The PSP continues to sit atop the Japanese hardware charts for another week, thanks to the overwhelmingly popular Monster Hunter Portable 3rd .
The latest iteration sold another 404,000 units in the last week of December, bringing the overall total to a mammoth 3,560,000…and that's in only one month's time, as the game released in Japan on December 1. You can find the weekly results for both hardware and software at Andriasang and as you can see, the PSP continues to reign supreme. The highly anticipated Square-Enix production, The 3rd Birthday , debuted at #6 on the charts, coming in at 140,000 units while the Pokemon phenomenon is alive and well: Pokemon Black & White for the DS will soon break 5 million sold. But we prefer to focus on Aya Brea's return because the developers have hinted that if the PSP iteration is a success, there's a chance Parasite Eve could return to consoles… That would be happy news for those who fondly recall the first two entries on the original PlayStation, and who had hoped to see Aya grace a next-gen console at some point.
Well, we'll probably have to do our part when The 3rd Birthday arrives in the US. So if you want to see the franchise on the PS3, it might be in your best interest to purchase the portable effort…
It really deserves it. please people buy this game when it comes here asap I want this on console!

I am soo gonna buy it. Monster Hunter is great.
PS. Capcom is very very stupid/lazy. A game franchise as BIG as Monster Hunter would sell A LOT on a home console, so making a console Monster Hunter would be almost no risk for them.
I thought the Wii and the 360 have versions of Monster Hunter.
Dunno I'm not interested on that franchise but yes..why don't put it on Ps3? it would be more than welcome than those other consoles.

The Wii does have Monster Hunter Tri, but I meant a next-gen HD console. The 360 has the MMORPG version of the game, Monster Hunter Frontier Online, but it's only in Japan. (plus it's on the 360, I don't think many 360 owners, which happen to have only a 360, would appreciate MH. But that's just my uneducated opinion)
PS. Oh, you were initially talking about Parasite Eve… I had MH in mind. Sorry for the confusion.

But is it true that it's nothing like it used to be? If that's the case, I wonder how many would even care for a console version.
We'll just have to try it and see I guess…
Wow, i didnt thingk this series was that popular, i mean i always like it but in the UK we never got Parasite Eve I, only II, So i don't think it settled as well here. I certainly look forward to playing through; may even play through both I&II to catch up.
That's a shame. The first Parasite Eve is a gem. Hopefully it will show up on the UK PSN store.
But will it ever be the same?
If it comes stateside I'll be getting it, but if the series was ever to become a console game again I would prefer that it return to its more RPG-like roots and leave the TPS stuff behind. But what are the odds THAT is gonna happen in this shooter happy climate?
Eh, I'd still support the series though cuz it's good.
Come next week I expect 3rd birthday to drop off the top 10. To put it straight, I forsee this title bombing in Japan.
It is a good showing for aging hardware. It just shows that Sony can easily keep the PSP alive for another few years with enough support and quality titles… similar to how the PS2 has been supported.
Japan is it's own world, I have been there many times… if good Japanese titles come out for Japanese players… the PSP will have long long legs yet.
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
I want to get this game but I have never played the first 2 titles. Would I be lost if I played this before the others?
