It's one of the game's more titillating features: as Aya Brea takes damage in The 3rd Birthday , her outfit becomes torn.
It's basically known as the "costume destruction system;" when the nasties she fights claw the crap out of her, her clothing will become ripped and tattered. This, unsurprisingly, yields some skin. But how exactly does this work, and how "destroyed" can a costume get? Well, according to Andriasang citing The 3rd Birthday director Hajime Tabata, if she's exposed, she's more vulnerable. That camera view you see in this photo is the "behind" viewpoint (which you have the option to change) and as you can see, she has lost most of her clothing cover. Tabata says you'll be able to "access headquarters to fix your torn clothes" at save points. You don't have to, but bear in mind that Aya will take a lot more damage when running around in her underwear. It'll "hurt" multiple times more than normal; "in other words, your emotional strength and determination will be tested." We like additional challenges.
But I dunno…sounds like all we'll be "testing" is to see how far we can go while ogling Aya from close behind. The only obvious strategic answer is to fix her torn clothes so she won't take extra damage, right?

To heal or not to heal… hmm…
I'm "Torn" on this issue…
HA!
LOL
Why is Square putting so much emphasis on "titillation" with this game? Is this another attempt to "westernize" their games?
Oh, c'mon now. The Japanese have been putting this kind of stuff in their games for ages now.
lol. please. westernize? this is way more common in japan. did you see the trailer to atlus' catherine???

Ooooh, I'm sorry. Because Atlus and other Japanese publications have been doing it that must mean Square has been doing it for ages too. Gotcha.

Good back peddling. I'm sure you fooled them.
You said they were trying to "Westernize" their games, when in fact the East have been leading in the making of titillating games for quite some time. Maybe Square is trying to "Easternize" their games?
Damn you, stop trying to demonize the west!

Ok Alienage, you got me.

My point is that anytime we hear info about this game it's about this feature. My am I wrong in asking if this is apart of their marketing ploy? It's obviously got you excited.
Hahaha and i'm not demonizing the West. I am from the West and I love the West. If anything, I'm demonizing Square for assuming this will help sell their game. Maybe your right, maybe they are trying to "Easternize" their games though I highly doubt it since that falls contrary to their present business model of….that's right, westernizing their games.

*Why
Aya's ass > Fran's ass
I couldn't get past the fact that Fran was a bunny rabbit.
Neither could I.
Get her down to her intimates and put on "god mode" FTW!
when there's nothing left, that's her "god mode". all the monsters just stand and ogle
..of course, the female monsters will be more vicious, but the males ones will be as pacified as a baby.
It's time for a PS3 version of this series.
I'm vulnerable when she doesn't have clothes
LOL @ alienange.
Ahhh fun features from the Japanese, you can always count on them (well, sort of… until recently mostly)
I think this is a move to hang onto the Japanese fans with the titillation while making it a third person shooter instead of RPG.
At any rate, a super shame it's just a portable title.
What a decision: Making an game easier, or looking at a half-nekkid sheila…
Peace.
Aya?
Lawless is from Australia.
Didn't you ever see Crockadile Dundee?!? All girls are Sheila's.
I did, but I was just a kid and didn't understand all the aussie speak. Good to know though in case I ever visit, I hear their "sheilas" like American menfolk.
LOL! Sorry, forgot about the language barrier there…
i really don't care about this. i just want the game to be good.
This game should be cool, regardless of skin. Though I'm sure getting the clothes beat off of you will be enjoyed by many gamers.
They should put the original on the PSN.
@ World
Some do, but a lil word of advice, so far from the American men that do visit the likes of Australia or New Zealand, they more often than not look like douche's in that they act like they're "the man".
So play it smooth, but not cocky lol. Trust me I've seen it first hand.
In other words you guys get a bunch of "New Cole" types? lol.
lol nicely put.
thats one system id be happy to try out!
OK, fess up now……
just how many peepers here are going to let Aya die(besides myself)?????
I wont let her die..
..maybe just once…
or twice coz it might be hard…
or thrice coz there's a learning curve…
or a couple more times, coz by now it's gotten fun 🙂
