Many are waiting for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to release before finally springing for a PSP. If you're one of those people, we've got good news for you.

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) has announced the Limited Edition Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP Entertainment Pack. This pack will be offered in the US and Canada for the price of $199 and will launch on June 8, much to the delight of avid Snake fans everywhere. The package will feature a special "Spirited Green" PSP-3000 system; it will be the very first time that color will be available in North America, and we'll also get special in-game content as well. Said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Product Marketing at SCEA:

"Konami's METAL GEAR SOLID franchise commands a massive fan base and we saw an amazing opportunity to create synergy with the METAL GEAR SOLID franchise and bring a console-quality gaming experience to the PSP system. Kojima Productions is renowned for its ability to create incredible original storylines and intense gameplay experiences; that is no different with METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER."

If you're interested in the Limited Edition PSP-3000 deal, not only will you receive the Limited Edition MGS-themed PSP, but you'll also receive a PSN downloadable movie voucher (US residents only; movie title TBA), exclusive Camouflage Uniform with FOX logos and Stealth Gun feature, and a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo. Well now, do you require a better excuse for snagging both the game and the PSP?

I saw that this morning. Has anyone noticed what a bad photoshop job they did of the PSP's color? Look at the stick. It's patchy.

Actually, World, I think they usually superimpose screenshots on the PSP in promos like this. But I've been wrong before.

DAMN! I think that I am no longer able to find reasons not to buy a PSP now. Well, other than being broke but this is an awesome deal and I loves me some MGS. Crap, looks like another month of eating nothing but Ramen and drinking out of the tap. And I went into software design thinking programmers were all rich.

I hear ya! Where did that idea of all programmers being rich come from, and who stole my Ferrari?

Yeah, i dont understand why this is coming out. It begs to wonder why they even have the pspGo in the first place? why don't they just bundle it with that?

If the PSPgo is the new great system why not bundle one of those? Oh yeah because the thing is already too expensive and isn't any better.

Actually, I like the PSPgo much better than the older ones. I find its easier to hold, I dont have to keep up with tons of UMDs, and the Blue-tooth function is pretty sweet, too.

I know what you mean. After playing with a PS3 controller, it just doesnt feel the same. But with the PSPgo's blue-tooth, you can use the PS3 controller with any game. It works really good. 🙂

Sweet, This color would look great sitting right along side the other colored PSP's in my collection.
So far, my other PSP's are 2 black ones(1000 & a 2000 slim), a White (Darth Vader)2000, a Metallic Blue(Madden 09)2000, and a Silver Gran Turismo 3000.

(But I ain't got's me no GO though, LOL)

I was hoping for a dark grey or something. Maybe with orange trim and the kojima logo. Though i guess green does suit it a bit better.

Green looks cool, but I could barely afford to pick up God of War III today, (I actually probably shouldn't have bought it at all, but I just couldn't resist.) so I'm certainly not going to be able to afford this one.

I like this bundle and I would love to get either a PSP 2000 or 3000 for the video out, but I will wait for Valkyria Chronicles 2 to come out. If it has a bundle I will definitely get that one.

this is what the PSP needs more off.
ive said it once, twice, three times and ill say it again.
the fact that third party developers are supporting the PSP better than sony is kinda pathetic!
in fact the last PSP game i bought was resistance retribution when it released, and my next purchase will be this MGS PW.

come on sony, i did not spend 300 bucks for my psp so i can play one game for it once a year.

if i was going to do that, id be better off getting the new nvidia 470GTX video card 😉

TheHighlander

Why do you think those 3rd parties are supporting PSP? Could it be that Sony is providing help, or possibly resources?

I do agree that Sony's support of PSP is less involved than it is for the PS3. Perhaps this has always been part of their plan for the PSP. After all it's sold tens of millions of devices, it's the only successful hand held gaming device without a Nintendo badge, and the third party support is actually quite good – considering. Still some more direct commitment from Sony would be nice.

maybe because they want the sales?
any system needs exclusives to survive in this industry, without them its going to sink like a stone!
thats one of the biggest hurdles onlive is going to have to overcome, some how.
most people have a home console, so why would they buy a psp to play the games they can play on their home console?

This is a day one purchase for me, but I'm still sad they didn't make this for PS3. Can you imagine? Ah well, this will at least be a good excuse to dust off the ol' PSP that hasn't been used since FF VII Crisis Core.
