The hardcore fans are always split on the issue of more action in the acclaimed Metal Gear Solid franchise; Metal Gear Solid: Rising , for instance, will likely have a much greater emphasis on action with Raiden as the main character.
However, this doesn't mean we'll be devoid of gameplay options that will let us tweak the controls as we see fit. According to Andriasang , the downloadable Tokyo Game Show demo for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will boast two different control methods. You'll be able to choose from either "Shooter" or "Action" types, and the difference centers on the button layout on the PSP. In action, you'll use the D-pad for camera controls and in shooting, you use the face buttons for camera control; titles that have used the "action style" in the past are Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Monster Hunter , while "shooting style" games are like MGS4 and some FPSs. As for the master himself, Kojima prefers the latter, but it's entirely up to you when you finally get your hands on Peace Walker . There's also some sort of mention concerning a "surprise announcement" from the sound team behind the game, which should arrive at TGS later this week. Well, anything related to MGS is interesting in our book, and likely in yours as well.
You might find that more games will start giving you control options like this; after all, we do exist in an era where player freedom and customization are of the utmost importance.

Hm…I dont' know..I think I'd like both, but I really haven't tried too many psp games like that.
Not really sure on the difference
But I'll take MGS4 standard (which seems to be the SHOOTING type) any day.
Should've added the second stick…
That's what I'm sayin.
Amen to that. I'd have orderd a Go already if they had.
NICE Kojima…NICE…I'm liking what I hear.
As long as the controls have been improved from Portable Ops. I'm game.
slightly off main topic but what about the MGS4 trophies? is there any news on that? if that happening?
Just curios has anyone ever added trophies as DLC to a game who has none? I cant name one.hope MGS4 gets it, it was my fist ps3 game.
not as DLC but as a patch yes. GTA4, Uncharted, Tomb Raider, etc.
niccccce, still need to get those games. thanks chuck
well I know that using the d pad for camera controls ends up making your finger hurt like hell, but that would suck to have to press left to strangle somebody.
another masterpiece, another saga in making…
I really wished this was the MGS5 on PS3, not Raiden, and not on PSP

Im hoping the news will be custom soundtracks…please!
Kojima has yet to patch MGS4 to let us play music saved on our HDD using the ingame iPod. If you listen to the first podcast Ryan Payten mentions it. Hopefully that comes too.
I'm really looking forward to this game.
I will buy this first day. Metal Gear is one of the reasons I didn't quit gaming when Nintendo was king. Playstation allow Kojima to developed the game that change gaming forever. Metal Gear is and will always be on par with any high production hollywood movie.
I think every game should let you assign any command to any button. It's been done before.
