After having been officially unveiled during Sony's press conference at E3 this year, handheld fans everywhere are eagerly anticipating the sleek, digital-oriented PSP Go. You are, too…admit it.
However, in addition to rumors that it may launch at a price point lower than the reported $250 (which we seriously doubt, by the way), it also seems Sony will have a firmware update ready for the unit's North American October release. According to Eurogamer's Digital Foundry , this update will feature "new options and tweakables," which focuses mostly on the settings area in the XMB. Here's a list of what revision 5.70 will bring you:
Wow. So Sony is already working on ways to increase the functionality and accessibility of the PSP Go well before it even hits store shelves. Oh, and don't forget that retailer information tells us you'll receive a voucher for a copy of Rock Band Unplugged , which will certainly make that $250 price tag easier to stomach. We'll bring you more information on update 5.70 if necessary, but you should find everything you need to know at the above link. They break it down detail by detail.
can't wait for the PSP-Go………….juz can't wait………this is the kind of hardware i always wanted……sold ma 16gb ipod touch,PSP-1000,DS lite………..only for buying this………just can't wait
I second that, although I probably won't sell my 2000 so I can keep it with CFW and have the Go be with OFW.
If they sold a hardcore bundle pack with a voucher for a game like Resistance Retribution or a classic like God of War: Chains of Olympus, and a casual pack which includes Rock Band Unplugged, I really think they'd sell the PSPGo like hotcakes.
Heck, bundle it with voucher for GT PSP! XD

Rockband Unplugged is not exactly a casual title.
Without the instruments that game can get a bit challenging, especially toggling between instruments.
It reminds me of Harmonix's FreQuency and Amplitude PS2 games more than RockBand.
Hmm true.
Any word if you'll have to buy your games all over again since your old UMD's wouldn't work?
I'm curious about this too. I'm hoping those of us who like to have the physical media will be able to buy a UMD that comes with a voucher code to download a digital copy of the game. Id like to have a UMD along with a digital version without having to buy the same game twice.
Sony mentioned it was working on a program to address this problem for older UMDs.
Sony also mentioned something along the lines of a digital copy… I'm guessing for newer titles.
If the lower price point is true I'll buy on day one. If false, then it might be awhile before I pick one up.

Yah, I'm with you on that one.
Update 5.70…does that mean that this will affect the old PSP as well? And how will updates work out later on with 2 different PSP's will there be a GO update and a regular update? How will these updates affect a PSP that still uses UMD? Hmmm….
Does PSP-1000 not get firmware updates? Or does it get different firmware updates?
The answer to both of those questions is "no, it doesn't".
Therefore, each PSP will download the same firmware (so all PSPs will see the System Update name change), but there's checks to see if you're on a PSP Go – if so, don't show UMD options.
Vice versa for Bluetooth options.
Good questions.
Oh man, I heard from the friends of mine at GAME that the PSP Go will work on Cloud Internet and come bundled with GT…if so…It's Day 1 purchase for me…
Well, GT PSP was demoed on the PSP Go during E3…
I'll just stick with my CFW PSP-1000 for now…
This update doesn't sound as feature-rich as it does "user-friendly-rich".
i just hope sony come to their sences and release games on memory sticks.
why their not doing it at release is beyond me, how is it going to hurt them.
making the psp go download only is hurting them, opening it up to flash based media would bring in a whole new market.
