Dissidia Slated To Launch On August 31 In North America?

Perhaps the most anticipated PSP title of 2009 is Resistance: Retribution , but as that may not pique everyone's interest, we can always look forward to Dissidia: Final Fantasy .

Released in Japan on December 18 of last year, it's one of those titles that FF aficionados in North America hoped would reach this region in record time. Earlier this year, Square-Enix did confirm it would arrive stateside some time mid-2009, and now, EBGames has listed a more concrete release: August 31. If it's true, handheld fans everywhere will be scouring the 'Net for new information and media. Last year's Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII was one of the year's best, and even though Final Fantasy XIII is still a ways off, avid followers of the legendary franchise needn't wait with long faces. All they need is a PSP, and this summer, Dissidia should become a huge release for Sony's sleek portable unit. Just remember: although it's labeled as an "action/RPG," from what we've seen, it's more of an action slashfest with Final Fantasy characters. If you check our videos section, you'll be able to find more than a few gameplay previews, so that ought to tide you over.

Of course, August 31 could be little more than a placeholder date – GameStop/EB is famous for those – but at least it sounds plausible. We'll let you know as soon as Square-Enix decides to officially nail down a NA launch date.

normally dates such as 31 / 1 mean it's that month, or year.

Honestly now, how long could it take to localize a fighting game? This is just retarded.

I'm so getting this. I was thinking of downloading it via iso whenever it came ou last year but I had to resist. I mean come one look at this game. You just have to experience it in all its glory and be able to understand whats being said. It reeks of total PWNAGE (in a good way). IMO
