When you say the name "Ghosts 'n Goblins" to a veteran gamer, the response will probably include a groan and a roll of the eyes. This isn't because the games sucked; it's because they were awesome…but nigh-on impossible. So if you want to test your skills, log on to the PlayStation Network to pick up Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins for the PSP.

As announced by Capcom's John Diamonon over at the official PlayStation blog , this is the only iteration in the series that boasted beautiful 3D background visuals. It'll retail for the reasonable price of $19.99, and if any of you young'uns don't quite understand the difficulty of older games, you should probably pick it up…playing this one will be a humbling experience, we assure you. If you want to get a great look at the gameplay, there are a couple gameplay videos at the blog (use link above), and it may convince you there's no better way to spend your hard-earned cash this month. At the very least, it'll be an old-school challenge amidst a generation that continues to advance with every passing day (it seems that way, at any rate). Besides, when's the last time you played a true-blue side-scroller? When's the last time you set out on a journey to rescue a character called Princess Prin Prin? …you know, she may not exist; few have ever actually found her.

Diamonon also mentions that Capcom enjoyed a record-breaking year on the PSN in 2008, which isn't exactly surprising. The publisher really contributed nicely to the online PlayStation community, and we expect they'll continue to do so in the future.

I totally groaned when I read the headline. Younger gamers would never give this thing a shot for more than a couple minutes. Ya can't explain it to em, they wouldn't understand why we played this game or how our controllers remained intact afterwards.

I felt very exited when I first read that G&G will be coming to the PSN, but a little frustrated because it will be a PSP game.

I don't know, hopefully we also get a demo a remember the old Commodore 64 days
