The PSP did play a role in the Sony E3 conference, but it took a backseat to most of the PS3 news. However, there was one new announcement that is likely to make PSP owners smile…

The best launch title for the PS3, without any doubt, was Resistance: Fall of Man , which will soon be followed up by the amazing-looking Resistance 2 this fall. But why can't the portable fans get in on the fun? No reason whatsoever, which is why Sony was very happy to unveil Resistance: Retribution for the PSP, which is bound to be an absolutely huge title when it releases later on this year. The trailer they showed looked great and while FPSs aren't normally best played on a handheld, we have complete faith in this one. We expect more details over the next few weeks – we can't be sure if this is a sequel or prequel to Fall of Man – and when we grab them, you'll be the first to know about all the juicy info. In the meantime, wait for the video to pop up; we'll have it for you within the next few days (or hopefully tonight).

The PSP has already had God of War: Chains of Olympus and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII so far in 2008, but if Retribution comes out this year, that should complete the best handheld yearly trifecta in history. Well…even if it's not, it's still pretty damn good.

Looked amazing.

Why would anyone care about GTA on the DS when there are already better looking GTA games on the PSP? It would be a different deal if it was the first time it came to a handheld.
