Jason DittonIf one has ever wondered where exactly in Sonic’s long-running existence a specific title and it’s events belonged, SEGA has recently released a timeline that outlines where everything goes. People unfamiliar with the Blue Blur’s story may wonder why such a thing is needed, but Sonic’s timeline is surprisingly fairly complicated, enough so that SEGA and Sonic Team announced they were hiring, and paying handsomely, for a Lore Archivist in August of last year. This page would appear to be part of the individual who eventually got the job’s duties.
The page, found on the official Sega website as part of it’s Sonic Channel Section (linked to the left), covers a deep timeline, linking to where events occurred in each mentioned game in the series. It includes titles you’d expect, such as Sonic ’06, a game infamous in the series for both it’s quality and it’s effect on popular opinion of the franchise as a whole until relatively recently, Sonic Frontiers, a more recent major Sonic title, and part a turnaround in the Blur’s reputation, and Sonic CD, where the entire conceit was a good and bad future, based on the player’s actions.
It also includes the Sonic Riders series, a racing game that’s fondly remembered for introducing the Babylon Rogues, Sonic Rush, which introduced Blaze the Cat, one of the more popular secondary characters, and Sonic Shuffle, which was a mistake.
