God of War creator, David Jaffe, is calling on Xbox to come to the rescue and save Bluepoint Games from total closure. To be clear, this call to action was before Phil announced he’d be retiring.
On Twitter, Jaffe tagged both Bluepoint and outgoing Xbox CEO Phil Spencer to swoop in and secure a deal with the team to either make an original game or remake a Microsoft-owned IP.
Now, as much as we’d love for Bluepoint to live, they likely wouldn’t be better off under Xbox considering their track record. For argument’s maybe they’d still be around in some capacity, but most likely they’d just be consolidated into one of Xbox’s existing studios if not shut down just like Sony did here.
Need we remind you that they closed Tango Gameworks for seemingly no reason despite only producing well-received games, including one that was a successful shadowdrop. They then went to bemoan that they didn’t have enough smaller scale, award-winning games after closing down the studio that made exactly what they claimed to want more of.
What do you think? Should Xbox swoop in and save Bluepoint? Let us know below!
