After a not-so-long run, Square Enix’s premium-turned-free-to-play foam shooter, Foamstars, is ending support. The game will remain online, though, at least for now.
Square Enix revealed the plan to nix support in a blog post, detailing it would keep to the planned December 13 schedule for its ironically named finale season, The Party Goes On!, and continue to keep the game up for players to enjoy.
With the imminent shift in the game’s structure, it also led to some changes, including to its Season Passes, while they appear to remain a free and premium feature, you will be able to swap between Passes at your leisure.
Its ranked modes will be rebranded as Foamstars Cup, with every four weeks shifting the name of the cup to one of its eight playable characters. Challenges will also be rebranded to Events, which will fall into two different forms — either daily or weekly challenges.
