Has anyone noticed that Battlefield 4 appears to be winning the advertisement war against Call of Duty: Ghosts ?
I suppose it matters where you live and what types of media you see on a daily basis, but thus far, I'm seeing a pretty lopsided victory for EA.
Analysts have said that Ghosts probably won't break records the way its predecessors did, and even Activision themselves has stated that the new CoD isn't expected to top Black Ops II . Other industry insiders and gamers everywhere are saying there are visible signs of fatigue from the world's biggest shooter franchise.
And maybe we're seeing that reflected in the campaigns. Of course, it's not like Ghosts isn't being advertised; it really is all over the place, as the new CoD is every year. But Battlefield 4 seems to be more prevalent, especially on TV. I can't watch ESPN for more than fifteen minutes without seeing a BF4 commercial, and I don't think I've seen a Ghosts ad yet. Of course, the latter doesn't come out until this week, and BF4 launched last week, so perhaps that's normal. Even so, one would've expected the CoD campaign to have been in full swing for a month now, and I didn't see that.
I'm so used to being beaten over the head with CoD ads in October and November of each year, it's a little startling to see another shooter more often in that period of time. Am I the only one?
Definitely noticed it seems to have a bigger ad budget. Seems like they plan on once again becoming a bigger franchise and COD.
But killzone is going to be my main shooter at first here soon. And COD will be my second shooter because of spitscreen. (Wait does Battlefield 4 have some sort of split screen?)

Yeah I think I see it more when I watch NFL. Plus it just feels like there's a shift in the air.
I've seen a little more for Ghosts… but I don't normally see much games advertising around here anyway.
EA made a big ad push before Battlefield 3 came out. CoD is fading but it doesn't have anything to do with them; EA wants the crown and they'll spend what they need to.
In related news, Kevin Butler is in a Wendy's commercial, lol 🙂
finally some1 here brings it up lol 🙂
Yeah, and he's only playing a supporting role to that burger bully. I hate her, always so smug, trying to make people feel bad for bringing a lunch from home or trying to eat healthy. /rant
Never thought Morgan Goodwin would be called a bully anywhere. Honestly, I haven't been to a Wendy's in years. Tempted, yes, but never have acted on it. I prefer Five Guys.
Nothing against the real life person, just the character she plays! She makes a very convincing burger bully in my eyes 😉
Five Guys is okay, granted better than other offerings, but my one and only experience at The Burger's Priest still tops them.
yeah i've seem far more BF4 adds than COD:Ghosts ads and i've seen them only on my computer so far but i will have seen probs 5 BF4 ads for every one COD ad which is slight unsual i have to say i thouht activision wud have wanted to remind us to buy their stupid game(my opinion of course)
happy gaming =)
yup EA definately wants the FPS crown and i've give it to battlefield over COD any day atm
happy gaming =)
im really surprised i havent seen much for either.
actually all the advertising is for arkham origins believe it or not.
normally by now TV is flooded with CoD adds, buses painted, bus stops painted, posters outside shops and electrical billboards.
its funny ive seen more chrissy decorations than i have CoD adds.
hate it how shops start so early, i mean were almost 2 months out and were already starting to hear the carols.
no wonder by the day it finally comes im so sick of them i want to blow out the brains of whoever dares sing it AGAIN!
Yeah, I can say I've seen far more ads for BF4 than Ghost..to be honest I've seen ONE Ghost commercial compared to the daily BF4 ads. Even on Facebook I notice BF4 advertised and nothing about Ghost

I think the difference is – EA needs to advertise – COD is now a household name.
BF wont be taking the FPS crown. From what Ive seen Titanfall looks most likely to do that – not straight away though. M$ must really have lined EAs pockets to keep that one exclusive. It will still be only 720 on their inferior console though so its my spring PC game.
I've seen a lot of different Battlefield 4 commercials, even more than Call Of Duty: Ghosts. However, I have no interest in either game. At the end of the day, you're playing the same modes with teenage boys online.
Your name is deceiving. You're not very bright at all.
Nah, I think activision know's better now than to blow a ton of advertising for launch. They just need to get a couple out closer to the release date so people know when they can pick it up.
Also christmas shopping hasn't really got going.
Personally I only find the advertising is heavy when they're releasing dlc.
