Not a lot happens in the video game industry during the summer. So let's spice things up.
Let's say you're planning on purchasing the PlayStation 4 this holiday season. …or let's just say you want to win some cold hard cash. Either way, we suggest you pay attention.
We're holding a one-month competition of sorts, which begins today and will run through the middle of August. We won't give you an exact ending date 'cuz we want you to act sooner rather than later. But you've got several weeks, anyway, and all you have to do is this-
Become part of the PSXE community in a variety of ways. The assembled community here is the source of much pride, and it remains our trademark. Therefore, if you want to be considered for the grand prize, all you have to do is get involved; i.e., follow us on Twitter , Like us on Facebook , and sign up for our newsletter , which typically goes out twice a week. With a few simple clicks, you'll be registered into the random drawing.
Thing is, you won't know from whence we'll select the winner's name, so you should probably do it all. Maybe we'll choose from our Twitter followers, maybe from Facebook…or maybe we'll see someone participating a lot in the Comments on the main page, or in our Forums . Maybe we'll notice that you've contributed a few User Reviews here and there. Who knows? The point is that we want you to join the PSXE family if you haven't already. The only caveat is that you must be a US citizen to be eligible.
And the winner will receive this- $120 ; we figure that's $100 off the price of the PS4, and $20 to pick up something on the PlayStation Network. But this isn't gift cards; it's money. You can do whatever the hell you want with it. And the best part? If we get a great turnout, we'll do it again for August . There. Summer is a little more exciting now, isn't it? 😉
Nice idea Ben, I already do all that. Am I exempt because I'm an intern though?
Yeah, sadly, you are not eligible. 😉
*nerd rage*
You should throw things on the ground. 🙂
I can finally put money down for my Xbox One 🙂

?! Downthumbers again; reveal yourselves cowards!
Lol I was been sarcastic but I guess we have to a couple of Sony fanboys in this site. You guys have to be open minded people 🙂
Well, this sounds very interesting. Is this what finally gets me to sign up for twitter?
Well, there goes my enthusiasm out the window. I already follow on Twitter, FB, and comment here. But I ain't American, so never mind.
It's probably time that I find an additional community that cares about Canadians.
That would be the marijuana community.
Has nothing to do with "caring about Canadians." We're paying in American currency. Any idea what sort of pain in the ass it is to give random people money across borders?

Psst, Ben… It's not very hard to transfer money to accounts abroad. It's roughly speaking as much pain in the ass as paying a regular bill on your banks website. It only takes a bit longer before the transaction is completed.
I know this cause we married in Cyprus (and are living in Norway) so money were flying across borders the weeks prior to that event.
The recipient can then choose to take out that money in their local currency if they wish. International banking has come a long way. 🙂

@Ben @Beamboom : Yes, international banking and money transfers abroad are dead simple these days. To appeal to a wider audience and grow this sites following you should consider making your competitions international. (pretty please)
Mwaha, Gives Us Americans An Advantage. Lol
I wanna live in Norway, hows the housing market?
Beamboom: Psst…the winner might get something besides money, which must be shipped, anyway…not EVERYTHING on the planet can be done digitally.
If you ask previous winners of our contests, some will say they got a little extra more than they won, and none of it can be delivered electronically.
And lastly, the POINT is to get more US readers. You may not have noticed, but we have an abnormal number of readers from anywhere but the US. That's not a bad thing but the US presence should be increased.

Free money? Hell yes.
I'm totally in.
I receive the newsletter and I follow you on Facebook. Does that mean I am in? Do I have a fighting chance? I am an unemployed full-time student, so it would be awfully awesome to win some cash to purchase a PS4.
Also, I have been with Xbox this past gen and I think it is time to go back to good old Sony.
I can't tell you if you have a "fighting chance." If you follow us and you participate, you're in the drawing. That's all I can say. 🙂
This is a great idea for a contest. I hope the winner is someone who could really use the money.
Living in Mexico doesn't pay off… good luck northern neighbors
I could really use that. What a great idea!
I always visit this site daily for news. Now I've officially registered.
And here I was going to save a load of money for the PS4. Well, at least I don't have to save up as much I thought.
U.S. Citizens: Eligable
Rest of World: Don't count and/or does not exist

I believe you need to take this like an adult like the majority of other international members do.
just thought i'd finally register because i've been coming here for playstation news for awhile and i've wanted to leave comments a few times but yeah. but the other thing is that cos of where i live i won't be eligible for the prize money but no matter i've got cash aside for it already so i mean it wud have only been money for games but i think i might be the only NZder in the forums anyway but it's nice to be in a place where people share your love of a gainmg platform but also have level headed onpinions even if we are slight biased to sony with the playstation. well look for to some interesting discussions
Awesome, Maybe I will get the new Playstation Eye then. If I win that is.
Anyone Else Having An Issue With The Facebook Page? I Get A 404… And Trying To Search It Only Leads Me To That Foreign Psx And Some Psxmorons Page Lol.

I can't participate in cheap ways to bring more traffic to the website, Facebook, and twitter. Sorry. Hope you understand. It's just not in my heritage. Some people here already do this. Heck, I visit this site daily. Even though I don't always comment, I still get my news from here.
I also thought you hated Facebook and all these social media networks(?)
I'm just keeping it real. Although, I do understand since this is a one-man website.
Got news for ya pal- Almost every contest or giveaway on the face of the planet is designed specifically for business. Have you not yet looked under a Snapple cap to see if you've won "Nothing?" Didja grab a large fries from McDonalds when passing by because you needed one last Monopoly piece? Did you ever hear those radio contests where it's "listen and win?"
"Against your heritage?" …get over yourself.
What am I chopped liver? I think Ben recognized that to remain relevant any business has to have a presence on facebook/twitter etc. That's just how things are these days.
Don't stress Ben, I am the most understanding human being to walk this earth. No need to attack me like an African Black Mamba. These "business" practices you speak of usually go one way. Anyway, there are many other ways to reel in fish to your website. This particular way I don't approve of. Nothing that forces me to create a tweet account or Facebook account will I ever appprove for any reason.
But that's just me 🙂
You didn't read, obviously. I didn't say you had to follow on Twitter or Facebook. You could contribute in other ways, like the Comments or the Forums or signing up for the Newsletter or submitting User Reviews.
You talk about "keeping it real." I'm the only one doing that.

I read it all. Anyway, let's just put this behind us. I want the community to grow, if anything.
What…. a strange thing to say….
I hate social media, but I do comment on articles here. Hmm, it would be nice to win.
Cool idea, I'm in favor of subsidizing the cost of the new system!
Okay, I can be a serious pain the ass due to my zeal for this hobby, but even I didn't expect negative comments in a thread like this.
I did. When it comes to money, people can be absolute di*** if they feel excluded. I just accept that.
It's part of the infectious entitlement disease that's sweeping the entire world. The funny part is that just about everyone who posts here normally is automatically entered…they don't even get that it's a way to increase the size of the community. All they see is money, and they're not able to get it.
But like I said, I knew that going in. 😉
Yeah… What's up with them idiots eh?
BTW, maybe people don't feel excluded but feel you excluded them?
Then that's too bad. There will always be someone who feels "excluded."
Notice nobody said anything when I was giving away a free game…? Yeah, as I said, it's just the money part that affects people.

I like to see people get excited about stuff, even if it doesn't apply to me I like to be happy for them and see the exclamation points in their post when they win.
Also, if something doesn't belong to you in the first place it cannot be taken away.
Money is currency. Money moves mountains. Money is IMO, a cheap way to do things. It can be manipulative. How about… You buy the winner a Ps4? Of course this is asking too much from you, but I'd rather have something else other than currency.
But again, this is just me. My way of seeing things.
I don't get that..you'd rather have a free ps4 but it's a problem giving cash to somebody to help pay for a ps4? Makes no sense honestly..ps4 still cost money, so you're essentially saying you want a free $400 value console opposed to taking free cash..at the end of the day everything involves money…every major business performs some form of advertising to boost sales and traffic…trying to understand your opinion but it just doesn't seem well thought out..
I said it was too much for him to give away a ps4 to the winner. What I'm saying here is I don't like how the process of winning is. As for money, he's the one that brought up that discussion. I only added fuel to the fire.
Killa… just… stop. Seriously. It's you that is looking bad right now.
