It's interview time, and for PSXE's latest, Spike TV host Amanda MacKay has taken a few minutes to talk – on camera – to us. Gotta appreciate it.

No big ol' write-up necessary; just watch. Mackay talks about how she got started in video games ( Super Mario III FTW!), and I also ask her about the dominance of Call of Duty , the next-generation of consoles, and the current software price points.

As you can see, we also talk about the new Battle for Everything tower defense game, which is inspired by the upcoming feature film, "Battleship." It's a really cool title and to learn more about it, head on over to the official site . Coke Reward Points factor into the experience, so we hope you prefer Coke over Pepsi…

Anyway, here's Amanda:

OK, she's a hot gamer, but I still gotta go with my Pepsi over Coke.

Cool video interview Ben, Miss MacKay appeared a bit nervous at first but then loosened up. It's a shame it she had to stick to her talking points so much though.

I don't doubt that she loves to play Cod but I do wonder if any TV-Gaming personality is even allowed to say negative things about a very popular franchise.

*sigh* I can't help but think I'd be doing better if I were that pretty. 🙂

:/ It's great that she came and spoke with you but that felt more like one big ad than a full-on interview..

Rip the video off the stream, edit it and repost the non coke-sponsored version instead! Come on man, fight the powers! Coke has never paid you for this ad!

I don't get it? It's no problem doing what I suggested? Would eliminate both the pauses and the nonsense. And editing something before you air it is not exactly uncommon.

But quite frankly I think I'd preferred a regular, written article.

Maybe the interview was granted on the grounds that the plugs were in place.

Dude, I really don't care that there's a bottle of Coke in the video.

It's not the picture, it's the unedited video, where she is allowed to plug her sponsor as much as she like, I talk about.
I don't see what's so laughable about wanting to edit your content before publishing it, or being in control of what's published on ones site. I really don't.

It's a dangerous path this, to allow the interviewee do the editing in order to get an interview (if that is what has happened here, it's all pretty unclear to me why you apparently are not allowed to edit your own interview).
And that's nothing to laugh about.

Whatever.

Developers plug their game all the time during interviews; I suppose I should cut that out, too? And there was no editing in this interview; I could ask what I wanted and her answers weren't edited, either.

Don't get so worked up about nothing.

If I come across as worked up I apologize cause that was not intentional, nor do I feel worked up at all – I'm totally chilled, just having a conversation about an interesting topic. Relaxed and feelin' fine. 🙂

I just feel kind of bad for you guys if – *if* – you were not allowed to edit your interview. If I were your editor in this case I'd say "we either get to edit the interview, or there are no interview", out of sheer journalistic integrity principles.

If you were writing an article based on this interview instead – would you have included every plug of Coke in your article then? If not I think the same should apply to the video interview.

At least, that's the journalistic principles in the world I am living in – LOL.
*rimshot* 😉

No but in all friendliness; I am above average interested in these questions cause I've been working in the media here in Norway for a majority of my working years so far, and these questions and challenges regarding journalistic integrity are really, really hard. They are easy in principle – dead easy – but there are *so* many difficult real life situations. There are a thousand "good reasons" to let go of those principles to reach short termed goals.
At least, that's how I found it to be.

Even though I'm not in the slightest interested in any tower-defense game, I think it's a very nice little interview you did there. Because normally when you see her on Spike or GT, it sounds like she's reading right from a script (which she may be doing also), and this just seemed a lot more personal and honest.

The long pauses were awkward though, I agree with that. But it didn't ruin the video, so I'm satisfied and thankful that you did this, Ben! 🙂
