Oh look. Another "wintry mix." Translation- crap. Oh well…we gots games. 🙂

Gran Turismo 5 in November? Sure. Fine.

I'm not being sarcastic. I'm a patient person. All I know is that between February and March, there are so many games I want, it's downright infuriating. Although I won't be able to play them all, I would like to have the opportunity to play White Knight Chronicles , Dante's Inferno , Heavy Rain , Bioshock 2 , Final Fantasy XIII , Splinter Cell: Conviction , God of War III , Lost Planet 2 , and others, but I know I'll have to limit myself. And if Gran Turismo 5 came out anywhere near this mess, in all honesty, I woulda been annoyed. I pump 100 hours into every GT without blinking an eye and I tend to do the same thing with every Final Fantasy , so those two games should be as far apart as humanly possible, in my eyes. And I really do like the idea of a 3D version ; I'm considering getting a 3D-enabled HDTV this summer when they become available; at the very least, I'll need it for work, anyway. But GT5 in 3D…? Could be a dream come true…

I know we've all been waiting a while for GT5 but it's one thing if we had nothing to play in the meantime. We've got plenty and there's no real way of knowing when GT5 shows up; I'm only going by the GameStop date, which is definitely a placeholder. But it certainly won't be anywhere near March or April and that's just fine by me. I'm taking the practical approach on this; I'm not going to get on a soapbox and rant. There are too many games coming out that I want to play…I can wait.

Assassin's Creed III coming way sooner than expected?

So they're saying the third entry will be out before March 2011 and the common theory is that Ubisoft will try for a holiday 2010 release. That's only a one year gap, people. Not that I'm complaining; I absolutely adored ACII and the idea that Ezio will return in the upcoming follow-up is icing on the cake; he's an awesome character and let's face it, his story – and Desmond's – really isn't finished. I just hope they're not rushing this project…I know they do the Call of Duty series every year and one of the big reasons is because it's such a giant cash cow. Well, ACII has already sold over 6 million copies and they expect it to break 8 million before the end of March, so a rush-job on the third entry wouldn't be surprising. At the same time, ACII was of such a high quality, I really wouldn't care if they used that very same gameplay format. I just want more cities and I'm good to go (I'll definitely be getting those big DLC packs).

Personal gaming update

I'm at the end of Resident Evil 5 and while I maintain that the tank mechanics have got to go, I will say that the partner AI is maybe the best ever. I mean, Elika in Prince of Persia was flawless but she was more of a supporting character; she did everything she was supposed to do, but she didn't have to do everything. Sheva has to contribute in the same way Chris does, and it works extremely well. She doesn't miss often, she dodges when she's supposed to, she heals at the right times, and for the most part, I'm glad to have her along. The only thing that bugs me is that enemies don't always trigger her; she'll stand there like a dope when an enemy is right near her…but nothing's perfect. Usually, I hate having a partner or teammates of any kind in real-time games, just because I always feel as if I have to babysit them. But that's not necessary here, and I'm very grateful for it. I'm not the biggest fan of the story and ammo seems to be a constant problem (even when I'm almost always getting "S" ranking for Accuracy and Enemies Routed), but it's still fun. It's getting annoying right here at the end, though…

After this, it's back to finish Halo 3: ODST and Bayonetta , both of which I'm hoping to finish before Bioshock 2 in early February. I might get WKC but an RPG in the midst of so many games that month will be tough. I'll have to see what Arnold says; he should be getting a build soon. Heavy Rain on the 23rd will definitely be mine and as I've played every single Splinter Cell – and loved them all – I must get Conviction at some point, too. Just too many to count, almost. LOL

And um…guess that's all.

GT will be fine in the Summer
If it comes out in the Fall though we'll just get a heck load more content and features (so it's a plus regardless)

And I'm sure there's more exploration and quests in White Knight Chronicles than in FFXIII, so I'm getting that.

don't forget the online in WKC, that'll add some replayability:)

I agree that GT5 for the summer is totally fine.

But, if it does release in the Fall, I'm willing to bet that PD will use that extra time to probably get a few more content in. I'm sure once they're done with the game, they're not just gonna sit there and do nothing.

And I really believe in the 90% claim by Kaz. This implies that game is nearly done and can release in March. If it's done and Sony won't let them release it till Fall, I guess more content for us hehe :). At least I hope so.

Im getting WKC definitely i'm really tired of playing MW2, i mainly play it cause my friends do but its lost it appeal for the time being. I can't wait for Mass Effect 2, i just finished another 3 playthroughs so i could have the perfect file to transfer into ME2.

White Knight Chronicles will be fun to play online with some friends after 2 years it's almost here:) Ben when are you guys putting up the WKC review?

yeah, gotta get WKC too, I dunno how to juggle it with FF if I can't find time to finish it before the release. I think my head is gonna explode, I wanted RPGs, so when it rains it pours.

WKC is out at the beginning of February isn't it? Gotta pre-order.

Ah, but Star Ocean 4 is coming too, and despite it's flaws it sounds like a better game than FFXIII. Then again, Star Ocean 4 was developed by Tri-Ace and not SE, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Who needs FFXIII? I have WKC and SO4.

Darn, you guys at PSX make it hard for me to choose. After reading so many articles from this site, I still can't conclude on whether to get WKC or FFXIII first. I obviously can't afford both in the short period of time they'll be releasing.

I've always loved the Final Fantasy franchise (and even FFXII, which not as much doesn't seem to be fond of), but I also loved Level 5's Dragonquest 8 on the PS2. Ugh, I got a month or so left to decide.

I can't wait for Star Ocean. Feb 9 baby. I saw and heard what WKC's battle system is like. I'm now having second thoughts aboot getting it. I just won't really have much fun on a game that uses the D-PAD to battle. I need me some real time battles, Thats why SO is my choice for Feb.

people should also give a chance to Yakuza 3 a great exclusive for the Ps3.

Qubex

There are plenty of titles coming out; but already the rumour mills murmur disquietly about what could be revealed at E3 this year… I expect glimpses of "Killzone 2" and "Infamous 2" at the very least. There should also be more information on Sony's motion control technology; it will be interesting if they show ( and probably WILL show ) software in the works for this upcoming peripheral?

If GT5 is not released in the March 2010, which is what I expect in all honesty… we should see more material on this game at the show; and hopefully a much more detailed view on the dynamic crash model being employed for the final code release!

The main issue I have at the moment is time; I just can't see myself getting to all these games. "White Knight Chronicles" looks superb, and so do the others. I think I will be months behind most of you here, because I am staggering my purchases and waiting for price drops in the $35 to $50 ranges. I really do want to get the games at a cheaper price and may have to resort to second hand copies.

Let's get serious here, all these AAA titles I want for my collection eventually; and I am sure many other PS3 owners are thinking the same. I may never get these games easily at a lower price simply because people will not want to part with them… I mean, even someones collection that contains only 20 or so games, if they are the best multi-platform and exclusive titles money can by, why would one want to part with them? I am talking about games that are getting 9.0 and over… these are permanents for the collection right?

Oh well, such is life; save thy pennies and buy slowly over time. I think this generation will very easily last me 10 years; I don't know about others.

Heck I will only be getting a 3D HDTV in about 3-4 years; once the technology has settled and we know more about the "Playstation 4". Anything else is a little to soon for me personally; for the "PSxExtreme" crew I completely understand; they need these gadgets for the job… 🙂 I am still not sold on the idea just yet, anyways!

What do my fellow community members think? Who will by a 3D HDTV and when? How do you plan to afford all these AAA exclusives?

What about "Home", will it be forgotten with all these great game experiences coming out?

Yeah I reckon it's all good, there is way too much to play anyway. I just like to rant, rave, and complain here because it's a great way to unburden myself. I'm a whiner. 🙂

Derrr, myself, I am coming up on the end of Grandia III. Still playing Bully from time to time, I bought Shadow Hearts: Covenant too (Yeah I'm on a PS2 kick) going through Resistance FOM cuz COD was bo-ring, Valkyria Chronicles needs attention too. And I just put in a preorder for Dante's Inferno. It's definitely a lot more on my plate than usual, but what can ya do? I'm getting no editing done on my manuscript though… 🙁

That is right World, there is just too much now… I don't know how good that is?

With these releases so compressed what happens if the "Sony Exclusives" actually suffer in overall sales. When there are too many noon can get enough love…

There should be an exclusive about every 3-5 months, but now everything is coming in one go. It is great of course; but does it make financial sense… maybe it does as there may be steady sales of these titles over time… people will still be getting games like "GoWIII" for Christmas 2010 I am sure; or other exclusives that they did not manage to purchase in the early part of the year…

New sequels to prior exclusives such as "Killzone 3" and "Infamous II" will only be out in 2011… and then "GT5" around the holiday period too (if rumours are to be believed)…

What about "ModNation Racers"? That is another game people may want… not to mention more top multi-plats that may be released over the coming months… "Dante's Inferno" is another… (as you mention above)

Well, I enjoyed RE5, but I didn't play with the AI. I didn't want to, so only played with a friend. As for 3D gaming, ehhh. I really can't say that I'm going to like having 3D stuff in my gaming. Not that it's bad, just that, going from now, just being me + tv + console, then suddenly having to wear glasses and buy a new tv and this kind of extra crap just seems like a chore compared to entertainment, but I unno.

Also Ben, I'm still totally gonna hold you to you giving me your HDTV when you go 3D =P LOL

Off-topic, but are you guys going to review WKC? I was wondering how you guys review RPGs on time, since most of them start slow and require playing them for quite some time to get an accurate review.

Scarecrow

Great question
Might be good that Arnold is reviewing this. Since Ben like some of us loves doing everything in the game and exploring every little place (towns, etc.) the game gives you. That really does take a lot of time.

I wouldn't mind a 2 weeks after-release review. But a month after-release review would be too long…But still welcomed

I'll still get the game either way. Looks fun overall.

Well Ben you said you "might" get it, which also implies that there's a probability you won't get it, and hence not review it. And I REALLY want to get this, but I have to wait for a good review first just in case there's a major flaw with the game. Any chance you guys getting it 2 weeks prior to release?

Yea the next few month will be fantastic for playing games and not so much on the wallet, but I kinda see that as a good thing because I will never get bored. I have pre-orders for MAG, Heavy Rain, GOW III, Final Fantasy and I plan on getting Dante's Inferno when it comes out. White Knight will have to wait and I would like to give Star Ocean a chance. So if GT5 comes out in the fall I won't mind one bit.

by the way, completely off topic, who here believes that killzone 2's major downfall was the two clowns sev was paired with, rico and natko? if they make killzone 3, please hire some decent voice actors guerrilla, not pirates

While I do hate the Rico character, I believe that killzone's 2 major downfall was it's "realistic" controls. I understand that they didn't want to make killzone feel like every other shooter but come on, everytime I play modern warfare 2 I think to myself how popular killzone had been had it adopted the same formula MW2 uses.

Qubex

Charger, I have no issues with the KZ2 controls… Maybe MW2 players are not playing a real shooter 🙂

Like a lot of Hollywood, it's formulaic and popular; doesn't mean the majority of films are actually good or have any sort of intellect behind them.

FF Xiii should go wii so that everyone can play it. Maybe have a nice pixelated version. And GT5 is probably delaying so they can make a secret 360 port and dumb the ps3 version down to match it.
